I've bought an MX-950 and need to convert codes from a Pronto PCF file (from a TSU-3000). Many of the IR codes aren't in the MX-900 IR database, so I'm looking for a quick way of importing codes from my PCF file.

I saw an old thread which said that copying/pasting the individual IR codes from ProntoEdit was the only way to get them into the MX Editor. Is this still the case, or is there now a quicker way of importing a large number of key/IR code definitions into the MX Editor from a PCF file (or a way of converting the PCF to CCF?)

First, unless you're not even finding your brand of component in the database, I would try codes that are in there for other model numbers of the same brand. Most manufacturers seldom change their IR codes.

However, if there is nothing in there that will work, you'll have to copy/paste the hex codes (and it must be hex that starts with "0000") from the PCF to the Universal Browser. Personally, if there wasn't anything in the database for a particular device, I would just learn the commands from the original remote (or the Pronto) and only use hex codes to add discrete commands not on the original remotes. That would be much faster than doing it all with hex codes.

Thanks for your reply. My problem is that I'm in the UK and have a couple of components which I can't find manufacturers' IR codes for:
- a Holdan HSR-1000 scart switchbox
- a new BT Vision DVR, which I think is made by Philips but which does not appear to be a standard model (it runs an MS operating system I believe).

The BT Vision box is the biggest problem, as I could not get the Pronto to learn any of the IR codes from it - apart from the number keys. I don't know whether I'll get the same problem with the MX-950 (it hasn't arrived yet).

I also have my Pronto set up with a full set of custom IR codes for QWERTY keys on a HTPC. Hopefully I can get the MX-950 to learn these.
