I want to delete IR commands from a device. Is this possible?

The reason is that when creating a device for my Yamaha amp, it automatically chooses a RECEIVER that has the same model code (from a different market I guess). So I get a whole load of additional IR commands that are plain WRONG for my amp. I just want to delete them. I know I can simply not use them in the device buttons, but in the device and any activities in which it is used the list of commands to choose from is twice as long as it needs to be and just plain irritating that I cannot seem to eliminate the junk.

Also, when setting up the device to remove any references to those commands, I ended up with several blank pages so moving the commands I wanted to keep was extremely tiresome. I really wanted to just delete the empty pages to tidy it all up. Is it possible to delete empty pages?

Before anyone says I shouldn't be using devices, I generally don't, but occasionally I do need to tweek the surround sound settings etc and there's no way I'm copying every command for the amp into EVERY activity that uses it (i.e. ALL the activities), that would be just daft. Better to use the device as a centralised repository of all the commands that you don't want in the Activities.

Can IR commands and blank pages be deleted?

You can NOT delete commands from the drop-down list. You can only delete the Device/Activity Customize Buttons key mapping. The additional blank pages will go away after you move all key mapping upward (toward the first pages). Make sure you don't have an orphan key mapping past the first blank page.

Note: If you want to reduce the Receiver commands drop-down list, then add it with a fake model number forcing it to learn the list from your original remote (as if the device is not on the database). However, the original remote may be missing desirable commands that are available from the brand generic database, and compatible with your receiver.

OK, that's pretty much what I figured. It's a shame you can't just 'prune' unwanted commands from a device and it's a right PIA when you have 3 blank pages between the key mappings and have to move everything up to eliminate the blanks. Either that or enter them again higher up and then delete them lower down where they're not wanted. Painfully slow either way.

Talking of creating one's own device, I did that for a radio tuner, based on a digital set-top box, so I could use Favourite channels. It was my understanding that devices created by users are then available to others, but my custom device is certainly not. It works exactly as intended, but I wanted to use the same device in another Harmony One and had to create it all over again. Isn't there any way to 'copy' it from one remote to another, i.e. on a different login account?

A new device created by a user will not be in the common database until inspected and approved by the Harmony database police. The Harmony user interface has no provision for cloning a device and/or a setup configuration, but Harmony Support does.
