Hi All,

I am trying to set up the 880 (upgrading from another model) and was hoping someone could help me with a long standing problem.

I have an Intel Mac Mini set up as my media PC, however if i add the device as the mini (it is in there database in many forms) it never allows me to add it to the normal type of activities (music, video, etc).

To get around this in the past i have added the device as a "MS Media Center PC" and then re-learned the few IR commands from the mini remote. However this strikes me as a major hack.

So my question is, if the device is in the database (lots of variations) how can i determine which actities it supports.

Alternatively, how can i create my own remote in the Harmony software? I don't see a way of doing this. Creating my own remotes would be useful since i also have an IR to serial interface to add discrete commands to my LCD panel (accepts Sony commands).

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I emailed Harmony, but they provided very little help and wanted me to call during business hours while at the machine (something that is tough).

Best Regards
Neil

I had also had problems with the mini remote using the HKtc30 which uses the harmony database.

The usual devices do not work

There is a 3rd party software app that gives full functionality to the apple remote.
In the help/FAQ section it gives lots of help for universal remotes and the correct device for the harmony remote.

The app is called Mira and the site is http://twistedmelon.com/ (no www.)

Hope this helps

Thanks for the reply, however the problem i have is on the Harmony software side rather than controlling things on the Mac itself (what the Mira help with).

When i add the Mac within the Harmony, no activities are available.

I've been using an intel Mac mini with the 880 since Apple introduced the Intel version. Since Logitech broke nearly every activity I had with their recent changes, I started over from scratch and the software tried to treat the mini as a media PC of some kind, but spelling the model number *very*carefully solved that. In particular, if you say "Mac Mini", it will do this. I'd recommend cutting and pasting the example model number, ignoring the fact that it may have the wrong frequency or core count.

It's currently in two activities: I did "Watch PVR" to add a Miglia tuner, then went back and added the Mini after the fact. I also added a "Presentation" activity, and that picked up the Mini no problem.
