Got a Harmony 670 after submitting the minimum bid at a charity event without knowing anything about them, just knew it was a universal remote. I stopped using my Kenwood universal years ago because it was too hard to program every time I bought new equipment. I was sure pleasantly surprised to discover the 670 programs virtually everything for you including macro type configurations. Anyway, one little thing I can't figure out is how to toggle between AM and FM bands on my Yamaha 2600 A/V receiver. With the remote connected to my computer with the USB cable and online with the Logitech site I've tried to teach the 670 to toggle the AM/FM with the Yamha remote following the instructions in the Logitech program but the command isn't being accepted. I'd appreciate any clues on how I should be doing this. Should I set the 670 to the "A/V Receiver" via the "Device" button before trying to train it with the Yamaha's remote? Also, I'm wondering if the 670 is being programmed with every IR command possible for our equipment or just the most commonly used or basic commands....?

Thanks.

When you learn commands the remote is simply reading the IR signal and sending it back to the website where it is analyzed and stored in your configuration.

First try all of the commands available for the receiver in device mode to see if the one you need is already there. Typically you get all the commands available for a family of devices which should be a superset of the commands available for your specific model. But that depends on who entered the commands for that device.

If you need to learn a command but the command isn't working, try relearning it in RAW mode.

Thanks for the fast feedback, I'll give those ideas a whirl.....don't recall seeing any reference to "RAW mode" before but I'll look for it. I'll report back later. Thanks again.

In the "Learn infrared commands" page, the "AmFmToggle" command should already be listed. Check if the "Origin" column say "Database". If so, then try it in device mode. Else, teach it from the OEM remote, then try it again in device mode. It will be added at the end of the LCD list. To learn a command in RAW mode, click "Custom" at the bottom of the "Learn infrared commands" page. Don't forget to map the command to a hard or soft key in the desired activities.

Hmmm.....well, I see the "am/fm toggle" command listed and "database" is in the column but I've tried all the buttons that make sense to me like the "next" and "prev" buttons next to the LCD as well as any channel or up down buttons and all of them result in changing the FM channel but not switching to AM band. Then I tried the custom or "RAW" method and I suspect something isn't working correctly in this mode because when I press the "band" button on the Yamaha remote pointed at the base end of the Harmony the computer screen jiggles up and back down rapidly but nothing to indicate the command was acknowledged or accepted as it has done with other commands that I have programmed using he "learn" function. Also, just like the first time I went to the Logitech site the remote was frozen after I unplugged the USB cable. None of the buttons worked until I removed one of the 4 batteries and then replacing it brings the remote back to life....wonder what that's about. I'm also wondering if there may be more command choices available in the LCD screen but I can't see them because I don't know how to scroll the screen to see them....is that possible....or is there just one screen to see?

Thanks,

Just press the "Next" button (below the LCD at the bottom-right corner) to scroll the commands in LCD.
