did anyone QC this ? After 5 minutes of looking around,
I can tell you that selecting the 'Picture Menu' or 'Sound
Menu' and then pushing Standard Buttons or Additional
Buttons does not work like it should.

They seem to work fine on the 659 & 680.

Can you enlarge on what you mean by this?

Do you mean that the Picture and Sound defined buttons also send the standard activity commands assigned to the button? If so then this is a bug that they introduced at the end of last year.

I'm currently not willing to try updating my remotes with this new software in case there is something else that I used which has also been removed/broken.

The manual of my 880 says:
To set a button to send a command to more than one device at a time:
1. Go to your Harmony home page.
2. Click Customize next to the appropriate Activity.
3. Click Change the Behavior of Buttons.
4. Select a command from the drop-down list in each of the required device columns,
next to the name of the button for which you want to set a command.

I expect the functionality to be available!

I'll call to complain today.

Here's a reply I got from a Logitech representative on their forum:

The ability to assign multiple commands to a single button was not supported functionality.

The changes we have made were based on a long time request from many customers to fix the button mapping as it relates to. Explicit order of custom commands and individual activity custom buttons (no propogation)

We feel that chese changes will more than satisfy the users of our remote.

The more people call and complain about calling fatures documented in the manual "not supported" (nice revisionist history) and removing them, the better.

If you want to reach a person that matters:

From linkedin.com, I got a list of names of people in the Harmony department at Logitech that posted their profiles. Sales, marketing & management (I did not include the developers, they usually have no say in what features get added or removed).

You'll need to have (or create) a LinkedIn account to view details but you can see the name and title without it.

From Google ([Link: tinyurl.com]), I figured out that the email addresses are in the following format: "FirstName_LastName(at)logitech.com"

I love the web!

I think my "feature request" that I posted in a new thread in the forum should satisfy most Harmony users whether they want the propagation of custom buttons or not.

If you like my brilliant idea, please contact Logitech/Harmony. I'm sure the more people that support it, the more likely they'll implement it.

This isnt good news. I finally had mine setup the way I wanted. You'd think if they monitored these boards and realized all the workarounds people need to do to get things to work right they would make it easier not harder to get things done. Too bad.

I used to send multiple commands to cycle through inputs correctly. Could someone give an idea of the best way around this now?

Thx

Harmony web site is changed. One consequence is; you can
no longer add multiple commands to one button!

Guys, I might be on a different tack here, but the ability to learn sequential button presses in RAW mode still works on the programming software. EG, to check I just input the sequence 0+0+9+0 for channel 90 (my TV uses 4 digits and doesn't respond to select) and assigned it to a soft button, updated to a 520 and tested. So this still works. I've only successfully got 4 or 5 button presses to work. But it has allowed me to set up a favourite channels list on the 520's screen buttons. I'm sure it would work for some other function if you need it.

I'm sure what I do is not a feature of design but a consequence of how RAW works because you have to press each button very quickly for it to work. Too long between presses and it stops recognising. So changing multiple remotes has got to be out.

But the ability to assign multiple commands in the button command section is definately gone since you select a single device from a dropdown list instead of having the devices aligned side by side as before.

I never used the website programming much because it used to lose my custom commands unless I used the web tool exclusively and the software starts automatically when I connect my 520 to the USB cable. I realise why many of you use the web tool, but i've been using the program successfully for a year or so, so it never bothered me much.

Understand the anger though. I hate losing functions that once worked without the option of retaining an advanced mode.

This is horrible!

My plea to Logitech/Harmony is this:

Quit fooling around with any other changes until you get user configuration backups working!

There's nothing worse than losing all your custom programming because Logitech/Harmony is experimenting with another change or the system just hit another bug. It has happened to all of us way too often, to the point where nobody wants to invest the time any more. I've downgraded my recommendation of Harmony remotes month by month since I first bought mine, to the point now where I wouldn't recommend them to anybody because of this problem.

May I humbly suggest that this board may not be the most efficient venue for pleas to Logitech.

A Personal message to one of their customer liaisons may be more effective.

The bug has disappeared, that is when in "sound" or "picture" mode there is only one command send now.
That is, if the "main" device is different from the device in the picture/sound mode.
So mapping the channel up buttons to left rear volume in sound mode when watching tv now works, only the volume is changed and not the tv channel. However when listening to a radio (recever/amplifier thingy) this does not work. The rear volume goes up, as the radio channel. The old bug. Go figure.

Oh joy!
Some of my messages were removed from the Logitech forum.

(don't try the link above, it no longer points to a valid message).

Anyway, I still believe that the most effective way to give feedback is to contact Logitech.

I posted on the Logietch forum and was told that the best way to get Logitech's attention was to call their tech support.

If anyone else wants to call them so they hear about the unnaceptable bugs from multiple users the number is 1-866-291-1501 x1

The Harmony Remote Support Team answered after a very short hold, I spoke with Bethany who logged the issue (the bug that is casuing me the most problems):
I used to be able to have the Play button in DVD Activity - issue Play to DVD and lights off to Light Controller.
I used to be able to have the Pause button in DVD Activity - issue Pause to DVD and lights on to Light Controller.
The UI for this disspaeared in the new software

This never worked on my 880 - the columns made it look like it was available, but you could only select one column for each command. If you selected more than one column it removed the other columns when you saved the page (I think, it has been a while since I tried it, but I know it would not allow that functionality). Maybe it worked at some point, but not when I got around to attempting that trick.

This new software is driving me crazy. By the way, there are some things that can only be done via the web site (even though the software is a thin wrapper around the web page) - the desktop software is missing some functionality.

Jeez I hope Logitech cares enough about customers who pay $500 for a remote!!

So many bugs and issues with the 1000...
