I would like to add an option to my Harmony to put the Tivo in standby mode but can't figure out how to do it. The problem is that if I put it as an option on my Tivo activity, the channel buttons won't map correctly (since they would be mapped to the Tivo's channel buttons, not the TV's). I can't quite get my mind around how to program a separate "Watch TV" activity that puts the Tivo in standby mode when I go to it. How do I handle the transition when I go from the "Watch TV" activity to another activity?

Why do you want to put a Tivo in standby mode? Unless it interferes with your other devices I wouldn't worry about it. Mine stay on 24x7.

If you need to do it so you can use the TV tuner then setup the Tivo on/off config to put it in and out of standby mode. Then create a watch TV activity that doesn't include the Tivo (only the TV) and tell it you use the TV for changing channels. Then when you're watching Tivo and select Watch TV it will put the tivo in standby mode (turning it "off") and setting the channel buttons to the TV. When you go back to Watch Tivo it will take it out of standby mode (turning it "on") and the channel buttons will be reset o the Tivo.

I understand.

The reason I do this is that sometimes the TV is recording while I want to watch something else. I cannot just turn the TV to another channel since the Tivo is outputing a signal through the RF cable. Standby simply turns off the signal.

So ...

I setup Tivo Off to put the Tivo into standby and Tivo On to take it out of standby.

Oh my - you're still using a RF connection from the Tivo to the TV? Sharing the coax with cable? That's the worst possible picture quality (not to mention the problem you had with needing to put it in standby).

Why can't you split the cable, feed one to the Tivo and one to the TV and use an A/V input (preferably S video) for the Tivo? If your TV is so old it doesn't even have a S video input - it's time to upgrade!
