I've had this remote (Harmony 880) for about a month now and I love it. I've updated it quite a few times though to get it working just right, through the website and the standalone software, and just today, a little while ago, the software was not able to communicate with the remote.

Even though it was plugged into the USB port, several different ones, the software still could not detect the remote. The percentage bar was stuck at 0% and the remote said USB Connected on the display.

After following every step in the troubleshooting guide I decided to try and see if I can hook up the remote to another computer, and lo and behold...nothing. It's as if the remote no longer identifies itself to the computer it's plugged into and I can't customize it at all. It still controls my system fine when unhooked, but I want to adjust some device delays I found to be a bit problematic and I can't do that now.

I called tech support and I got escalated to level 2, but in the meantime I have a remote that is not customizable. Have any of you have problems like this with your remotes and resolved them? What could the issue be?

Maybe they'll send me a replacement? If there's no way to fix this one, it doesn't seem like there's much choice, but I don't want to send this one in and wait for one to come because I won't have a remote in the meantime.

Thanks guys. As always, this forum rocks!

Good news. I wanted to let you guys know that I fixed the problem. I've read about people having similar issues, but there was no concrete way to solve it, so I thought I'd let everyone know for future reference.

If the remote isn't being detected when you plug it into ANY USB port on your machine and the software thinks it's disconnected even though the LCD screen says USB CONNECTED, but every other USB device works fine, turn OFF your computer, and UNPLUG the POWER cord from the back of the tower.

Let your computer sit unplugged for about a half hour to let the capacitors discharge, and then plug the power cord back in and turn it on. That's what did it for me. Immediately after reboot and plugging in the remote I heard the two-tone Windows confirmation of a device being plugged in and I updated my remote with no issues whatsoever.

Cheers, and happy updating!
