Hello,

I'm pretty new to this forum. I've only recently gotten into the mid to high end remote market, and still have a lot to learn. I did as much research before starting this threat as possible, but didn't find anything, so here goes.

I have a Westinghouse LTV-32w6 (Brand New line of TVs, serious lack of information on them as of this posting) a Sony PS2 and a Motorola DCT-6200/2500 Cable Box. I purchased a Logitech Harmony 520 to control all of these devices simultaneously, but upon programming them into the remote, I found that when my PS2 was instructed to toggle on or off, so did my TV. The PS2 remote does the same thing. I found a list of PS2 discrete on and off codes, but can't figure out how to get them to work on my 520. Any help?

I found the discrete codes at the link below.

[Link: hifi-remote.com]

Edit: Also, my particular model of TV isn't in their database. It's a Westinghouse LTV-32w6 (Brand New line of TVs, little information on it thus far). Do any of you have any tips or tricks on programming my remote for this TV? I'd prefer to do as little manual programming as possible, although I know this isn't a reality. What are the odds of Logitech adding this device in any time soon?

Thanks,

Jarrad

Not good unless you or someone else with your exact TV adds the device to the Logitech database.

The Logitech device database is user driven, and relies on end users, like you, learning the remote codes to the database.

It's not hard to program the TV device. You just hook the remote up to the computer and put the TV remote in front of it, then learn each button press from the original remote. Should only take 15 minutes or so.

the tough part for me to understand is how to get the remote to understand input changes. it always asks me to compare my TV to an existing model, but there isn't a model that Westinghouse makes that's close to my model. How to I get it to understand the different inputs?

Also, is there a way to get it to learn the discrete on and off codes that sony publishes for the PS2 remote?

I notice that when I look at "Adjust Power Settings" for the PS2, there are discrete PowerOn and PowerOff commands listed on the drop down menu. Have you tried these to see if they work?

I checked under my "Adjust Power Settings" tab, and all I found were these options:

[]I want to leave this device on all the time
[]I want to turn off this device when it's not in use
[]There are no power buttons on my current remote for my Sony PlayStation 2 Game Console (With DVD).

I did, however find a "Power On" and "Power Off" option under "Learn IR commands", but they weren't learned. What type of PS2 do you have? Mine is registered as a "Sony PlayStation 2 Game Console (With DVD)"

Tell the wizard that your TV model dosen't exist.. I haven't run a device set-up for quite some time, but after you tell the wizard this, you should be presented with a dropdown box of potential IR code sets to try. Look for "Empty". This should allow you to learn all of the codes from your original remote, rather than codes from another TV that is already in the database.

When you run the set-up for the TV, the wizard asks you how you select inputs on the factory remote.... I go directly to the input I want.. (discrete codes), I scroll through inputs...etc. Select the one that is most appropriate to your TV.

During the set up, you reach a page that presents a listing of your inputs, and asks you if the inputs for your TV look correct.

On this page, you can edit the inputs for your TV, typing in the list your available inputs. This list when you have completed it, should look just like the inputs on your TV. If you scroll through inputs, it is important that they be in the exact order that is shown in the TV menu. If your TV skips unused inputs, don't list the ones that will be skipped.

There are actually a number of different PS2's in the database. The one you are using does not have the ON-Off codes, but I can not tell you which one does. Perhaps someone else can help in selecting the correct set-up containing the On-Off codes...

When you find the correct device set up:
On your game console, when you run through the exact same device set-up... this time for the PS2.. when you reach the power option page, tell the wizard that you have a power button for "On", and another for "Off".
Then tell it you know what button you press, and select the appropriate IR codes from the dropdown list for "On" and "Off".

You don't need to delete the two devices you have already set-up... just rerun the device set-up.

Answer "I want to turn off this device when it's not in use". On the following screen, I told it "A button on the remote for On, and a different button for Off". On the screen following that, there is an option that reads "Use these infrared commands:" and a drop down menu that includes Power On and Power Off commands as options. I couldn't test them out for you, because mine is an early model PS2 that is not capable of having its power turned on and off by remote.

I did, however find a "Power On" and "Power Off"
option under "Learn IR commands", but they weren't
learned. What type of PS2 do you have? Mine
is registered as a "Sony PlayStation 2 Game Console

That is how mine is listed. If the commands are listed, that means that they are on Harmony's database, so you might not have to learn them. However, sometimes things are listed in the database but don't actually work. Can you see the commands on one of the LCD device mode screens for your PS2? If so, you can test them directly.
