I have a Harmony 676 and am having trouble getting the client software to work on my G5 iMac running the latest update for Tiger. After updating the 676 firmware and installing the latest Mac client (5.0.1.15), I tried opening the "Connectivity.EZHex" file and received the following messages before the Harmony Remote client window automatically closed:

"Could not get time from web server"
"Error sending data"

Emails from Logitech support have told me to check "Always Allow" cookies in Safari (didn't help) and to try Firefox (haven't tried yet) although I don't see what difference this makes when the problem appears to be within the Logitech remote client.

To the best of my knowledge, there is no security software running on my Mac. My DSL connection is being served by a Netopia Cayman 3347 modem/router.

Are there any Mac users out here who can help me?

I saw this bug over the weekend, but it seemed to clear up the next day.

Are you saying it could have been an intermittent problem with the Logitech site? It was still a problem as of Sunday evening around 9:30 p.m. I haven't tried today yet since I am currently away from home.

The Harmony FAQ says that this problem can be caused by firewall or antivirus software blocking the remote from contacting the Harmony web site.

No firewall or antivirus software is running. Could my DSL modem/router be blocking something? If so, how do I configure it to allow the proper data to flow?

Some routers have firewalls built in, but usually you have to turn them on. If this problem is persisting, it is probably worth a call to Harmony tech support.

I checked my router's settings but couldn't find any way to turn off the firewall. I'm gonna try and call tech support tonight.

Try this while in Safari...
Click on Safari menu then uncheck "Block Pop-Up Windows"
Then try the Logitech site.
After you're done with Logitech site, turn on (if you want it on) "Block Pop-Up Windows"

This hasn't mattered for me. I run with popups blocked in Safari all the time and my 880 updates without problems. This particular machine is a dual 1.8 G5 running 10.3.9.

What may matter is if you don't have plugins and/or Java and/or Javascript enabled in Safari->Preferences. I have them all enabled.

Another thought... are you connected to and logged into the Harmony site via your browser before you invoke the update file?
