Sorry, I couldn't find the answer to this elsewhere. My wife has been spoiled by another remote with backlit buttons... Also, any detailed reviews of the 768 available yet?
Thanks, Bob

The buttons are not backlit... just the screen. As far as reviews, I haven't seen anything published reviews on the new harmony 768's just from users.

Thanks for the reply, Zinfari.
Sigh. This may be a dealbreaker as far as my wife is concerned. My old VCR remote has red backlit buttons with a dedicated light switch on the side. She loves that, and isn't going to understand spending $270 on a remote without backlit buttons.
Guess I'll have to wait for the SST-791...

Backlighting is a nice feature - but one can argue that within a few days, you'll get the hang of this remote and could likely operate it in the dark without a problem :) The buttons are sufficiently different in shape to allow blind operation in my opinion - give it a try! David www.BlueDo.com

also, you tend to use the LCD a lot (at least in the older model), so the buttons are much less important then a conventional remote. The buttons used are not translucent, and have a "candy coating" (as someone said about the new HTM buttons) so they are much easier to read then conventional buttons in the semi dark (i.e. as long as the TV is on)

Backlighting was mentioned by many of us at CEDIA (where the remote was previewed), but it was too late in the process to get it implemented. As it was, the remote barely made it out before Christmas. It's definitely been noted by Harmony though. Mike www.surfremotecontrol.com
