also, you tend to use the LCD a lot (at least in the older model), so the buttons are much less important then a conventional remote. The buttons used are not translucent, and have a "candy coating" (as someone said about the new HTM buttons) so they are much easier to read then conventional buttons in the semi dark (i.e. as long as the TV is on)
