Hi...I just got the Apple iPod Universal Dock and am trying to control it with my Harmony remote (I did not buy the optional remote). I am unable to control it, even though I added it as an Activity for my remote. Has anyone gotten it to work? I used Model #: A1153 to represent the Universal Dock. thanks for any help.

Try saying that you can't find the model number listed and then see what happens after Harmony quizzes you for a few IR commands from the original remote.

Hi,

I just added the Apple iPod Universal Dock to my account over the weekend, and added the codes that I learned from the original Apple remote. I'm not sure how long it takes for it to get added to the Harmony database, but you can try to find it.

Thanks...I'll give it a go and see if it works! I just love this new iPod...my first one. Very impressed with it, especially the sound quality over my home theatre system.

Please post back if you can get it to work. I've been trying to do the same thing.
I tried adding the Universal Dock as a "Digital Music Server", then selected "Apple" as the manufacturer and "A1153" as the model number. I then selected "No" when being asked if I had a remote for my device and it gave me a couple of devices to choose from. "Apple Universal Dock" was actually listed, but unfortunately it doesn't seem to work.

yeah...unfortunately it still won't work for me. I even emailed Harmony and they never responded back. Perhaps you can try to email them as well and see if you get any kind of response? thanks.

I emailed them a while ago and did not get a reply. I tried a couple more things over the weekend, including selecting the new iMac G5 that comes standard with the remote as a Music Server, but all attempts were unsuccessful. Looks like we're stuck for now ;(

Have you tried added the unit as an iPod (eg. iPod Nano) instead of as a dock?

Yes, I've tried that as well with the same unsuccessful results. I'm out of clues here :(

I don't understand why they can't get this right. Are Apple's infrared codes "proprietary" or something? is there such a thing? This is very frustrating.

The folks at Harmony finally fixed the issue! :O) It now works...try deleting the device and re-add it again...that should work.

works great for me too! I did notice that when I select the activity corresponding to listening to my iPod that the iPod powers up on it's own -- which is great. but, when you "end" the activity the iPod does not power off. is this how it is suppose to work given the limited IR commands for the dock, or do I have some setting wrong within my harmony activity?

I'm still having a tough time with this. I've tried entering it as a music server A1153 and Universal Dock. Which command set are people using? 3477 seems to be the most popular.

Will this be the same for the New MacMini's with IR?
