Here's a thread about common things around the world, but known as another name..

Here in New England, we call "flatjacks" pancakes.

What else are they known as somewhere else. Along with other things that might be known as something different.

In Canada, we call knitted winter hats as "toques" (pronounced tooks). I believe in the US, they just call them hats.

I see lots of "cool" dudes wearing these hats that we in the colder climates use to keep our heads warm, not just to look cool.

Some of us do, however, wear them year round to look cool.

Durex is a brand of sellotape(clear stickytape) in Australia not a condom brand .

ATM = Automated Teller Machine, also known as MAC, not sure what the letters stand for.

soda, pop, "coke" not as in the name brand but some people call it coke.
