What's everyone's favorite CDs and DVDs to give your system a workout and get your neighbors to visit you?
They are not necessarily your favorite CDs or DVDs, but sonically they kick butt!

Here's a few of my personal favorites to get the ball rolling:

CDs - Bachbusters by Don Dorsey - A terrific Telarc digital recording of Bach music on synthesizers. Has some of the lowest bass notes your system will ever see An old CD (1985), but still a killer!

On the Line by Lee Ritenour - Another full digital recording with great dynamics, electronic drums and Lee's great guitar work.

DVDs - This seems to change weekly, but here's a few that keep poping into mind:

The Matrix - Unreal both visually and sonically. Great Dolby Digital soundtrack.

Lost in Space - One of the dumbest movies of all time, but awesome Dolby Digital sound.

I have many more but what do the rest of you think?

Enjoy!

How about John Carpenter's Vampires for DD 5.1 & Contact - the bit where Jodie Foster is in the machine for DVD pic quality?

CD- Try Telarc's "The Great Fantasy Adventure Album", or "Chiller". Yes' "Talk", Megadeth's "Risk", Anything by Mark Knopfler, Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon".

DVD- I'll second "The Matrix", also "Mousehunt", Ditto "Toy Story 2", "MIB", "The Patriot" (the one with Mel Gibson, not the Steven Segal flop).

Man o Man do I have one for ya! The cd called Pomp&Pipes on the Reference Recording`s label will absolutely crush your system. The low frequency and dynamic range on this cd is wider and lower than I have ever experienced. If you get this disc use extreme caution when you play it the first time-I don`t want to be responsible for blowing up your system. The disc is classical music so you rock&rollers probably won`t like it. Those of you who buy it e-mail me and let me know what you think. Once again I`m not responsible if your stuff goes KABOOM!!!! Great minds think alike. Either that or I was quoting him to put my reply in context. You decide.

I prefer to think that mroll was anticipating what Makai would say. :-)
