Dang. This time Chris anticipated what I was gonna say! Is this what they call a memory leak?

Your both the same guy RIGHT? If I`m right it seems Really Really Weird that you`d post the same message twice under two different names!! Call me Weird. I`m just old and don`t understand I guess. Ha! Ha! Chris

And yet, oddly enough, we're two different people 3000 miles apart on the "Who are you?" thread. Actually, since Makai Guy posted the same message as you Chris, maybe you and Makai Guy are the same person.

Well, it was fun while it lasted!

Actually, I don't know where Makai Guy's from. I was assuming Hawaii from his name. I'm from Southern California.

By the way, getting back on topic, I wanted to add "The Fifth Element" to my DVD list. Not so much for the sound, but for the excellent transfer to DVD.

Enjoy!

Check out the list at [Link: smr-home-theatre.org]
Click on the link "How Low Does It Go?".
CD: I've had "Wellingtong's Victorty", Telarc, for years and it's a serious test of your subwoofer and mid-base. The real cannons and muskets really pound!
(be careful, it'll frighten small children and pets... learned that the hard way!). Seriousely, keep it low the first time through otherwise you'll learn the smell of burning voicecoils (kinda' like the smells of burnt hair and circuit boards).
DVD: 1. Definately the Matrix (chapter 31 I think... near the end where the helicopter crashes, etc.) great sound and visuals, and 2. Gladiator, opening scenes (first battle), great sound. 3. ToyStory2, opening scene (Buz L.Y. flying through space), awesome sound and visuals.

last night we watched 'last of the mohicans.' the battle scene with all the canons really sounded great on my system (7.1). i had to hide under the blankets a few times.

on the other end, the bach b minor mass has some nice deep organ pedals, not to mention the heavenly music. i also enjoy the brahms 'ein deutches requiem.' i have the neville marriner on philips for the former and robert shaw on telarc for the latter.

My choices are similar:

CD:

The Great Fantasy Adventure Album (Telarc)
City of Angels soundtrack - especially the score segments
Holst's The Planets (DTS CD; DTS Entertainment)
Alan Parson's On Air (DTS CD; HDS High Definition Surround)

DVD:

The Matrix
The 5th Element
Toy Story 2
Saving Private Ryan DTS
Courage Under Fire DTS
The Coors - In Blue DVD-Audio
Eagles: Hell Freezes Over DTS - as some have said, this one can bring you as closer to god than you ever thought possible (especially Seven Bridges Road)

I also enjoy sections of Ultimate DVD Platinum, especially the DTS presentation of Alan Parson's "The Time Machine" and the segment from Africa: The Serengetti.

Let's face it, when you've got your system tweaked and setup just right, EVERYTHING sounds better. :)

Well, if you insist ... Your WEIRD, Chris!

You'll find me in the middle of this page in the Who Are You thread (complete with photo in case you have any small children you wish to frighten):

Location not listed in there -- I'm currently shivering in the middle of a Michigan winter. Was down in Newark, OH for 20 years, though, Chris. mroll, your Hawaii guess was pretty good though, as you can tell from my North Shore Kauai website.

Wow! It's not that often that I'm the youngest these days. I've got a whole year to go to 50!

BTW, the reason I mentioned the Lee Ritenour disc was because it was the first CD I ever bought, back in 1983, when a basic 2nd generation Yamaha CD player cost me 600 bucks. The CD is a Japanese import from JVC, but is still one of the best-sounding I own.

Chris - Based on my long history of buying losing Lotto tickets, you're better off on your own.

P.S. - To paraphrase Roger Rabbit, "We're not old, we're just drawn that way."

Actually wasn't it Jessica Rabbit that said that? ("I'm not bad... I'm just drawn that way.")
