I've got an idea that I've been comtemplating for a while, and maybe you guys (and gals) could help.

I came up with the idea of creating a webpage like the from Yahoo etc, to upload screenshots which could act as visual aids in helping people out here on this site.

Example: sometimes when explaining a process that we've done many times to someone who is new, we seem to lose something in the translation (as far as the newbie is concerned) and my thought would be to create the webpage that we all can source from as far as visual cues are concerned.

This was one of the reasons for asking about the GIF converter, and some time ago, a GIF animator.

Yeah I know, we all could just upload to our own personal page, but having a website where we all could SHARE screenshots animated GIFs and the like, then provide a link here to the item in question.

Isn't a picture worth a 1000 words?

What do you all think?

Now mind you, I am in no way an HTML guru, and I know nothing about setting up websites, so someone with that knowledge would really be able to help here.

I welcome all your thoughts on this. I think this could be very beneficial to the site. Let me know.

THanks in advance,

JJP

John: I know this goes against most everything you've heard from me, but I think this one should be posted in the Pronto forum as well or at least be linked to a short message there.

Joh, I like the idea. How about a webpage we can all share, and just post the appropriate links?

http://www.featureprice.com/ is my host. The support is 24/7 to real people!!! It may not be the cheapest, but the features and the space for the bucks can't be beat.

This is a quick, and unfinished example of a channel macro visual guide.

Huh! I came back and THERE IT WAS!!!!!

I've never been able to direct link to 'em before.

Looks VERY good, Jophn. the "Scroll Rate" is a bit fast though. Be good if you could set it to mouse clicks. Don't ask me HOW, 'cause I gots no idea!

I got a placeholder, too, until I open another IE Window, typed in the URL, and up came the animation.

Then when I went back to the original window (this one), the image was there.

Go figure!

John: You need to slow it down by about 50%.

Looks good though!

... Greg :-)

P.S. To set it to mouse clicks, you need different pages with the different images, and "hot spots" on your images. Easily done in the web page creator I've got.
