How about a way to get an email notification when replies are made?

If I have posted replies in several forums and/or threads or created a new one myself, I find it tedious to check back into all of them to see if anyone has replied or has asked me a question.

I use other bulletin board sites that allow the user to mark certain threads of interest and when a posting is made, an email is sent out.

Can we have this please!?!?

I'm assuming that this is NOT already possible. If it is, please tell me how to do it!

Danial, if you read this, I vote yes as well,

(humble request over here for e-mail notification).

ok, I chnged my mind, I am getting a lot more e-mails now than I would prefer as well, so checking forums at my own leisure is a better option.

I believe this was asked for before. I'll see if I can find the thread with Daniel's answer.

Can someone email me if I forget? lol

I don't know about all y'all (plural for "y'all"), but I get enough email already. I check in a couple of times a day, anyway, and the little red "new" seems to work okay.

Larry I agree with you, if I got an e-mail to every thread I post, my inbox would be incredibly big

Not got a Delphi account then?

From a practical viewpoint, I posted an item for sale in the Marketplace and invited e-mail responses. Naturally, the only reponse I got was a reply post, which I didn't realise I had until it was too late.

So, there WAS a thread about it.

While I like the idea, I find that whenever I use it on HTF, I get dozens of emails that are a waste of my time.

If there are a couple of important threads that I want to follow, I just throw it in my "Daily" favorites folder.

Daniel,

Can you share with us why you don't want to implement this? Just curious.

This is the previous thread about this topic:

Thread Tracking

I asked Daniel for the ability to track a thread by email. He said:

That's something I considered but dropped from this release.

Not until I've got more CPU power to work with. :-)

The idea was to subscribe to certain threads. God knows I wouldn't want an email for every thread I post in. Only those I specifically elect to track (i.e. no Joel threads or threads where people post useless HTML crap just for the sake of posting).

Yes, of course, only do it if a user wants it and then, only on the threads that they choose, and then allow them to turn it off it generate too much email. Also let the user specify how often they get notified, only once a day (or only once per week for that matter) or every time a post is made.

I was just wondering if it's simply a CPU issue or if it has to do with how often people visit the site and traffic and how many people view the ads on the site.
