If you plan on sticking around, you may want to re-register with a new username. Once you've signed up, there's no way to change your username and keep your post count.

It'd be kind of cool to see a noob with thousands of posts though

if you want you could always try asking Daniel. On the other hand after all this time and posts it would be odd to see a different name pop up

Possibly...what happens if I kept it similar? Somebody (I forget who) called me "Oathead" in the MVP thread.

not up to me :) it is just that the only contact is the name on the post. You change that and we need to think for a little while OTAHD=NEW NAME until we get used to the new name

Hey, one of the other forum sites that I'm a member of allows you to change your username whenever you want. Well, sort of. Your "username" remains the same, but you have a "display name" which is what you see next to the post. Kind of cool, but a little confusing sometimes!
It would wreak havoc here. Someday I'd come and there'd be four djy's!

Well, around here your system-level user name is "vp41iu". If your shown name - OTAHD - is changed, the system can still identify you with your old posts.
So, technically the system *could* allow users to change their own names, but there's a high level of abuse when that's enabled, not to mention confusion when names keep changing...
