New thread, just 'cause they are 10 - 0 and they play tonight and I think that 11 - 0 at the start of a season would be an all time league record........ plus I officially have adopted the Sabres as my team until we get the Jets back in Winnipeg........... so the Sabres may be my team for a LONG time.

I don't even watch hockey any more, but OTAHD does, so he'll keep me up to speed on how they are doing! :-)

Yes, 11-0 would be the record. Although the Toronto fans say it needs an asterisk because we won 3 of the games in shootouts and there were no shootouts back then. But there were also 20 minute OT periods instead of 5.

They are just crying because, quite frankly, the Leafs hardly ever beat the Sabres. Even when we were terrible, they were worse.

Tonight will be a tough game. Atlanta's 7-1-3. But we're 10-0 and I think we can do it. Atlanta hasn't played nearly as many good teams as we have.

You should start watching the Sabres when you can. They're on TSN a lot I think, if you get TSN. Tonight's on HDNet, but I think that's only an American channel also. Yahoo also broadcasts some games online. You can also listen to all of the games online at NHL.com. We've got the absolute best broadcasting duo ever, including the best play by play announcer, Rick Jeanneret, with Jim Lorentz doing analysis.

You'll hear all about it from me! I'm going tonight, although I could scalp my 3 tickets for probably $300 apiece. But they're more valuable than money to me. It'll be fun!

Do we get TSN? Yes. TSN is Canadian! It just got bought by ESPN, to make the parent company American.

I'll check and see if the feed is coming to the 'Peg tonight.

As far as records are concerned, they are just numbers and are an indication of what happened at a particular time or time period. They often can't be compared directly.

Do you think that Babe Ruth's home run records can be directly compared to some of the home run records of late?

Different pitchers with more depth at pitching. Different bat. Different balls. Number of games. Average length for a HR at the stadiums. Etc.

Both Babes records and the new ones are great accomplishments, IMHO, but can't be directly compared.

11 - 0..... with the rules the way they are now.......... will be the record. Period. Can it be compared directly with a record that didn't have shoot outs, etc. No. But neither can some other records in the NHL that included 20 minute OT periods, etc.

I still love the stats, and working for records. It helps to drive the players and make for some fun for the fans and some bragging rights, even if it isn't a perfect system.

And since TO think the world revolves around them anyway, and a lot of us in the West don't like their attitude, I'm loving that the Sabres may break the record tonight!

So there! :P

Greg :-)

Tonight's game is not on TSN, unfortunately, after I checked.

Here's a list of what games will be broadcast on which netowrk. There's quite a few on TSN and CBC. Nest Saturday's is on TSN.

They're also on things like Sopcast and TVU Player a lot (P2P TV streaming) but it's not exactly legal. I know some fans outside of the area do this. I don't as I get to watch every game on TV.

Well, it's sad that the streak had to come to an end.

It was really a badly played game. We looked sloppy and slow. We couldn't pass at all it seemed. But we never were down by more than a goal, although whenever we scored Atlanta came right back. It took until the end of regulation to get going. Jochen Hecht netted one with less than two minutes left. The arena went wild! Nobody sat down after that. Overtime was exciting, but we didn't score. We went into a shootout, and Atlanta scored once, us not at all. But it was quite a way to hang in there, and we walked away with a point. At the end the entire team went out on the ice and raised their sticks, and the entire place chanted "Lets Go Buffalo". On the way out, I passed by the organist sat, incidentially at the top of the section I was in, to see him with tears in his eyes.

There's also some bad news. Henrik Tallinder, one of our first line defensemen, has a fractured arm (from last game) and won't be back for at least 2 months. Nathan Paestch should be a capable backup, though.

Still a great run! And at least we won't have to hear the Torontonians whining about 11 - 0 not being a REAL record! LOL

Why am I not surprised that you are originally from Toronto, roddy???

Now, please take this as a "tongue-in-cheek" comment, okay? I'm still right behind you on the whole Home Makeover thing!!! :-)

thing!!! :-)

I got over the Home Makeover thing, I had my opinion from a personal experience and made a comment to that effect. Still stand by my comments. I was also very pissy because on the day of the reveal they could not come up with lunch until well after 2 and my mom fell and broke her arm. I was tired of hearing that they were over budget when I was running out of cash, and clients were calling want their stuff done. Not sleeping much for 4 days did not make matters any bettter.

I did meet the family the other day, Kristina was still really down and probably really tired of so many people being around. Tim just wanted to be able to watch TV, lol. He was pretty inquisitive about the whole thing once he figured out how to watch TV. Lost track of how many times he said thanks. Really nice guy

Why the comment on Toronto, I left there when I was about 8. Funny thing is, I really like the Habs. Which my dad still tells me they are the evil ones. Patrick Roy is my favorite player, a disgrace what Montreal did to him.

I was rooting hard for Buffalo last year, I did not want to see a team from Carolina win the cup. That just did not seem right. But glad to see they still have their name on the record, I think they still have the 2nd most cups too, even though that has been many years past since the last one.

It's great to hear that the home owners are over the whole stress of it all, and are able to start enjoying their new home!

Sorry to hear about your Mom, roddy.

I'm still glad you were there along with your crew and all of the rest of the people there who were doing it out of the goodness of their hearts.

Two thumbs up!

The evil Habs! LOL I love the rivalries in sports, especially hockey and football! It can be kind of fun!

Anyway, go Sabres!!! ;-)
