Read the manuals. How about using component, s-video, or composite?

i can't find many details about the dvd player, so i'm assuming it's a basic standard definition one.

If you're not worried about quality, the simplest way would be to use a SCART connection (the long one with lots of pins, 21 if you want to count), otherwise use composite video with stereo audio, which would use three normal RCA jacks (yellow for video, red and white for audio).

since you mentioned s-video, you can use that for the video, and then the red and white for the audio.

one thing to note is that you're not really in the right place...this forum is mainly for custom installers and professionals. for simple tech help you should try an electrical store or phoning up toshiba themselves.

You need to plug in the red and white audio cables in addition to the S-video. S-video carries video only - no audio.

Or you could use the yellow-red-white composite connections.

He's in exactly the right place. There's nothing that says this forum is for only custom installers and professionals.

The Custom Installers Lounge is intended for CI's and pros. The rest of the forums on this site are for anyone, and this question, however simple the answer may be, is very appropriate for this section of the forums.

buckwheat,
this totally correct response from mattweb shows why it helps if you to put some information in your profile as to where on the planet you are, whenever you join a forum:

mattweb is in the UK and they have SCART connectors and cables there. They don't exist in the US, or at least the cables are hard to get and I haven't seen a TV with one for several years.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Thanks for the clarification Ernie...because I was totally confused by that too. I've never heard of that connection.
