For posterity (searching the forum), Mark has posted the addressable discrete power codes here:

Greetings! First of all, Thanks to all the people who contribute their work and knowledge to this site! I have a URC 8811 remote and a dish 501. I was looking for discrete On/Off (like everone else apparently!) when I found the above coding. After alot of reading and a little experimenting, I plugged the codes from Marks thread into Pronto Edit as a new key, saved the CCF file, ran the CCF through CCF2EFC.exe, scanned through the output text file and what do you know-

URC8811 Setup Code 0775 for my Dish 501
Discrete Off EFC = 166

Works like a Champ! I also came up with 090 as a discrete on, but it worked like the normal power toggle. Maybe it would work for other setups?

Hope this info is useful to someone else!

Gary

An exerpt from the page linked above:

What are discrete codes?
They are versions of toggle codes that only perform one function. For instance, a "POWER" button on a remote would be a toggle, in that when it is used the current power state is reversed. If your device is on, it turns off. If it's off, it turns on. A "discrete" code would be a signal that ONLY turns the device on. If it is already on it remains so. These are most often used to ensure your home theater components stay completely in sync for powering on and off and changing inputs.

Such specialized and otherwise hidden codes may also be available for direct access to other "toggled" or "rotating" functions such as television inputs, receiver soundfield settings and on-screen display modes.

I tried these discretes on my Canadian Bell ExpressVu PVR5100 and can't get any of them to work. I tried both the addressable and the universal On and Off codes with no luck at all. Does anyone know a good e-mail address or a contact name at Bell? In my last attempt to get an answer from them regarding discrete codes I had to first explain what a discerete code was and I was then refered to my owners manual on how to program the universal remote. What crappy customer assitance when the customer knows more than the supposed assistant!! Any help would be greatly appreciated.
