Terry,
Here are the discrete on and off commands for a TV in the RC5, RC6 and RC5x IR protocols used by Philips in most equipment. These are the most likely codes to be used in decreasing order of probability. I believe that they frequently need very long button pushes so keep depressing the key for some time when testing.
If you find an off command only, then you can create a macro by using off/power toggle for on. Also, depressing the program or channel key from off will often turn the TV on.
On RC5 5000 0000 0000 0001 0000 003F
Off RC5 5000 0000 0000 0001 0000 003D
On"RC6" 6000 0071 0000 0001 0000 003F
Off"RC6" 6000 0000 0000 0001 0000 003D
On"RC5x" 5001 0000 0000 0002 0000 000C 0001 0000
Off"RC5x" 5001 0000 0000 0002 0000 000C 0002 0000
Please let us know what works.

Hi Jon,
I just tried all of these codes again. This time using the long button push. Even thou, I have a late model 2002 philips TV none of them work. Newer TV's should have more functionality....right?
