I found inside a .CCF file some new coded for my 50H82 RPTV to directly change the screen dimention. The CCF only had 2 of the 5, so I was looking to generate the others.

I went to makehex to see if I could find a template, and there isn't one for Toshiba. Is there anyone out there that can help?

the following code

0000 006d 0020 0002 0154 00ab 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 003f 0016 0015 0016 003f 0016 003f 0016 003f 0016 003f 0016 003f 0016 003f 0016 0015 0016 003f 0016 003f 0016 003f 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 003f 0016 003f 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 003f 0016 003f 0016 003f 0016 003f 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 05e4

works for putting my RPTV into full screen mode. I am going to gather that there might be some more descreet codes that I don;t know about... I would love to find one for inputs.

Any help would be much welcomed.

Matt.

Matt,

Your command is, in the parlance of MakeHex, NEC:64:195. Meaning NEC protocol: Device=64: Function=195. Here is my collection of commands for Device 64, the main Toshiba TV code.

254 ADDR Data

Not all of these commands work in all TV's (trust me the discrete power commands only work in a small, recent group of high end RPTV's) and I am not even sure what some of them mean, but it will give you an idea of where to look. There are several commands that look like they might set the wide aspect.

As you probably already know, the only way to find them all is to generate all 256 commands with MakeHex and try them out (and then hope that Toshiba didn't use alternate devcice codes -- although I have not heard that they do). Also, remember that by trying all those commands you may do a factory reset, get into a service mode, reset convergence, etc. that could require a service call. There are two commands labeled reset and I would avoid those, but there could be more.

Good luck,

-Jon

This is of great interest to me, since I have a 50H82 and a Pronto 1000. I'm trying to generate HEX codes from the list of commands, but I'm not getting the same ones as listed. I used MakeHex to generate all the codes for NEC, device 64, and nothing matches the hex code posted originally. What am I doing wrong?

RFMan are you actually trying the commands from MakeHex or are you visually inspecting the hex stream that appears different? Very few identical Pronto hex commands look exactly alike by inspection. I have used MakeHex many times and it is quite accurate.

When you changed the device number to 64 did you save the file before dropping it on the MakeHex.exe?

I downloaded MakeHex, and used the nec.irp file that came with it. It was already set to device 64, and I did not change it. The hex code it generated for command 195 is the following:

0000 006D 0022 0002 0157 00AC 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0040 0015 0015 0015 0015 0015 0689 0157 0056 0015 0E94

This does not match what is posted at the top of this thread. I did not get a chance to try the code MakeHex generated, but I assume that if the one in the first post works, this one will not, as it differs.

Good show!

What TVs have you confirmed the discrete on/off for? I've got a 50HX81, and that code is the key thing missing for all my macros!!!

RFMan,

The MakeHex command that you posted is as close to the specified timings as you can get. Of the two it is more correct. Matt's original posted command has a minor error but it probably works fine.

Basically, unless you really know what to look for, you cant tell if a Pronto command is the same by inspection. Most of the Pronto hex commands are just the off and on times, bit by bit, expressed in wavelenghts. So 003F is trivially different than 0040 (63 decimal and 64 decimal respectively).

John fine who wrote MakeHex is one of a the very few experts on IR signals and he is generally correct. As I said before, everything I have tested from MakeHex works flawessly.

Barry Gordon wrote a good description of the Pronto hex format:
