Hi.
I have been trying to get discrete codes for the Toshiba 32WL68P. I have asked Toshiba support. Here is their reply to my request:
"Dear Sir,
We are very sorry to advise that Toshiba do not publish these discrete
codes."
Do Toshiba have discrete codes or not? Are there anybody out there that knows. If there exist discrete codes, where can they be found?

You may want to try these discrete codes that I found on Toshiba's website.

Some work on my TV and some don't. Fortunately for me the Power On/Off discretes work for me which was what I really wanted. I was hoping the input switching discretes would work, but I haven't got them to work yet. I can work around that though. The HEX codes start on page 2 of the PDF. If someone could tell me how to convert the codes on page 1, that might help me. Good luck!

I've started a thread here:
[Link: avforums.com]

where we're trying to collect info on discrete codes for the Toshiba LCDs and confirm them for the different models. Direct input selection is now possible for several models. Discrete on/off work for some models, still trying to work them out for others. Several of the codes come from the .pdf listed above. Sompen, would be nice if you could try them out and report any results in my thread. Good luck!

Thanks for you effort. I will study the codes at avforums.com. I have tried the codes at the ToshibaIRCodeMaster, but they dont't work at my TV.

My DSI distributor gave me a list of discrete codes for every command. Of course they were codes I am completely unfamiliar with. There were all four digit alphanumeric codes and were of no use to me. I use pronto products and use hex codes. He said these codes work on all the TV's but of course I couldn't get any second hand confirmation of it.

It is fairly easy to translate those codes to Pronto Hex, using the MakeHex program.

Toshiba uses NEC1 protocol. Each NEC1 signal encodes four bytes of data, each byte is two digits of hex, so your four digit codes cover two of the four bytes.

The four bytes are:
1) Device
2) Check byte for device
3) Function
4) Check byte for function

When a manufacturer gives you just two of those, they might be giving you (1) and (3) assuming you know how to compute (2) and (4) or they might be giving you (3) and (4) because (1) and (2) are the same across all functions of the same device.

All we really need to generate Pronto Hex is byte (3) because bytes (1) and (2) are the same for almost all Toshiba TV's and byte (4) can be computed from byte (3), and is computed by MakeHex.

If you post some of the codes you got, I can be a bit more specific, but basically:

Edit nec1.irp to set Device=64.
Drag/drom nec1.irp onto makehex.exe creating nec1.hex
Translate each byte (3) from hex to decimal in order to select the right numbered function from MakeHex output. (There are some alternatives decribed in the MakeHex readme file that you might or might not find easier).
