Hello all,

Does anyone have a discrete code to turn THX on and off, not a toggle? Currently I have a toggle and I have to set Auto first, then wait and then toggle THX to get it on and then do the same, but twice to turn it off :( It's a pain and causes those clicking sounds when switching and takes up too much time... I'd really appreciate it if anyone having those codes could share them ;)

Thanks in advance!

Might be simpler to just get used to THX on at all times! :-)

(And the receiver should remember what settings you had on an input-by-input basis).

Hmm, I'm not sure if the receiver remembers what the setting was, but I'll check that.

I don't mind having THX on for TV/DVD, as it seems to sort itself out ok, however for Tuner/CD I prefer to turn on Neo6:Music (it seems to make the sound better).

Looking at the IR Codes for the Marantz SR8500, I cant see any discrete THX On/Off but i can see Indiviual Discrete Modes
I.e Thx, Thx Cinema, Thx Ultra 2 ETC.

I dont know weather you could possible use 1 of those first before issuing the THX Mode you want,

Do you mean in this file: [Link: remotecentral.com] ? Or is there another SR-8500 file on site somewhere?

It does look like it has what I need, but I have no idea what to do with the codes given there - is there any utility to convert them into ProntoPro format? There's an utility for Denon in the files section, but I'm not sure if it'll work? Thanks!

You need to use Makehex to convert the

16 device

37 subdevice

third number is the function number.

Device Code: 16.37 Function: 36 (THX)
0000 0073 0000 000E 0020 0020 0040 0040 0040 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 00C0 0040 0020 0020 0040 0040 0040 0020 0020 0040 0020 0020 0040 0040 0020 0020 0AC4

Device Code: 16.37 Function: 58 (EX)
0000 0073 0000 000E 0020 0020 0040 0040 0040 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 00C0 0040 0020 0020 0040 0040 0040 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0040 0040 0040 0AC4

Device Code: 16.64 Function: 7 (Ultra 2)
0000 0073 0000 0012 0040 0020 0020 0040 0040 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 00A0 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0040 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0AA4

as the examples. The THX is probably the toggle. Johnsfine is the maker of Makehex so search for posts by him and you'll find the link to the latest version of the software and how to use it.

Cinema, Game, and Music are also available by doing this.

Thank you! I saw that program mentioned somewhere so I should have not problems finding it again.

BTW - the code for THX in the spreadsheet is 16 64 13 (for my SR8500), so hopefully it'll be a discrete :) I can write what it actually was later tonight when I try it out.

From my data though it shows 16.37 36 (From the Marantz RC9500 default file that has ALL Marantz discretes and commands). You too can download this default file at the Marantz website if you look at the remotes page for the RC9500. From there you can get the default file.

Hopefully either command will work. Please let us know!

Unfortunately this code (above) doesn't work, but I'm not sure if that's due to the fact that ProntoProEdit NG converts it 5001 0000 0000 0002 0010 0040 000D 0000 - would that make a difference?

Thanks!

Did you use this:

0000 0073 0000 0011 0040 0020 0020 0040 0040 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 00A0 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0040 0020 0020 0040 0040 0020 0AA4

Which is the 16.64 13 code or did you use this:

0000 0073 0000 000E 0020 0020 0040 0040 0040 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 0020 00C0 0040 0020 0020 0040 0040 0040 0020 0020 0040 0020 0020 0040 0040 0020 0020 0AC4

Which is the 16.37 36 code?

The conversion doesn't matter. They're all the same thing to the device no matter the form that the remote uses/understands.

I used the 16.64 13 - I didn't have too much time in the morning to try them all, so I will try the rest after work today.
