we have always done this, not because of conservation, but for example, programmers get more done when working from home, they don't have to deal with the distractions of the office

I would say that a programmer (one that is trustworthy) gets more done in 4 hours at home than they could at 2 days in the office, and it is a big bennifit to offer an employee at hire time if you tell them they will be working 4 days a week at home

Please stop...

The opinions expressed by so many of the grade school scientists in this thread are gonna make me fall off my chair laughing!

I loved the, Why are the holes in the ozone layer over the poles if the penguins don't have SUV's? Before expressing such "Thought Diarrhea" please do a little research. Any decent search engine will turn up why your proof is total hogwash, and lacks scientific understanding.

I also find it funny that so many in this thread that flame others for not knowing what they post about, are the first to post their extensive knowledge on this subject!

LMAO!!!

In the long run I'm definitely more worried about global cooling. You know the sun is a finite resource itself. Besides, I'm always a little chilly anyway.
How hard can this be?

Who needs to be at home to work naked?

Didn't he invent the internet?

Yep, techno expert, he.

The story is that after he invented the internet, he had this problem with his vcr flashing 12:00 and so to fix it, he covered the display with black tape.
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

Was the tape bio-degradable?!?

I think one of the problems with issues like this
is we tend to confine our understanding to how
it impacts us in our lifetime as if the planet
is only 100 years old.

No, our problem is that we don't realize what fleekin idiots we all are when it comes to understanding a system where 93 million miles is a unit of measure!

Oh yeah and I'm still waiting for al whore to
divest from occidental who is plowing down the
amazon in search for oil.

If you go back to the Falling Sky predictions of the seventies, and do a bit of arithmetic, you will find that about 1.8 Brazils have been totally denuded of rain forest by now and are barren deserts.

Oh, yeah, and Willy Ley said that we would have computer-controlled cars by the middle 80s, and there wouldn't be any more traffic accidents (unless they used Windows software).
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

With the current KNOWN supply and current rate
of demand we have about 40 years of oil left.

When I was a teenager in the 70's we were gonna run out of oil in the 80's. We seem to have found more. The local paper just ran a series on the oil sand up Canada way. Said they have as much oil up there as the entire middle east.

Al Gore doing a movie about global warming is
MUCH scarier than global warming itself. What
a sham and embarassment.

This has been known for quite a long time, but it is much harder to get than other oil supplies, so it won't be gotten until the price per barrel high enough for long enough to make it worthwhile for a company to invest in getting it out. No company will start pulling out oil that costs $55 a barrel to pull out if the market price is anywhere near $55. They want to make money, too. So we might run out of oil, but only if the price stays low. As soon as it goes up, we have LOTS more available oil!

I watched Revenge of the Sith the other day. If we don't do something soon, I really think that democracy will crumble and the Sith may, in fact, take over again! Get your lightsabers! haha ;)

Do we need to find alternative energy sources - absolutely. Do we need the equivalent of snuff films for brain cells - no! These "documentaries" are garbage. The same way films are screened to be rated, "factual" films should also be screened for FACTS.

I am not buying into anything that any politician is selling, unless that politician is out there on the frontlines doing something to make a difference, rather than making movies to tell us how to do it. It is better to be lead by example than by "do what I say, not what I do" mentality. If Gore started a campaign and took it before the federal government (for a legitimate cause, like the environment), then I'd take him seriously. Until then, we'll just have to wait for our current face of government's term to expire.

Thank you,
Damon DG
