Didn't he invent the internet? Why doesn't the
CO2 keep the sun light/heat from going out but
not coming in? Why is water vapor which blocks
more spectrical radiation than CO2 and is number
3 as far as atmospheric gases by volume - CO2
number 5 - not talked about by these ENVIRO IDIOTS?

But I really have no opinion!

Marc

It was shown how sunlight of course centers the atmosphere, but the first layer of pollution tends to reflect a lot of the solar energy back down, instead of all of it leaving the atmosphere.

I'm certainly no scientist, and maybe I'm an easy sell!

All I have to say, is that there were some really disturbing satelite photos, of the melting ices caps, and Greenland is rapidly melting.

There is a whole dynamic going on with the oceans, due to raised temperatures that in response are changing the weather. Look at the increase in severity and frequency of hurricanes and tornados.
The forecast for these looks kinda grim.
I'm not really into politics, and I neither am defending Al Gore, or his party or any of that crap.

I just thought the movie was pretty compelling. I have lived all my life in Seattle. I remember when most of the winter months, were colder, the ground was always frosty and all the mud puddles would freeze over.
That rarely happens here any more.

There were numerous photos displayed in the film of retreating and disappearing glaciers all over the world.

I know I kind of bit off a chunk here with this posting, and didn't expect to see people refusing to accept that we are using up the worlds resources, and pollution and population growth is a little on the chaotic side.

I was never a Gore fan, and yet I think he is very sincere about this, and really has nothing to gain personally by his attempts to enlighten us about this issue.

But hey! Maybe it is grossly exagerrated?! I don't know, when I see the endless streams of traffic, and suburban sprawl, it does make you wonder if just maybe we could consume a little less, and think about what we are going to leave our kids & their kids...

O.K. I 'm signing off... I' m sounding like a frickin' preacher...

Just check out the movie some time & try and keep an open mind ...Maybe I've lived in a liberal, hippie area for too long? All I gota say is some of the statistics, photos and thermal and satellite images were pretty difficult to argue with...

adios.

No matter what anyone says, we will run out of
oil at some point, probably in our kids or grandkids
lifetime. Maybe not run out, but hit a point where
the third world war is over oil. Think of all
the plastics, cars, planes, whatever that use
it.

With the current KNOWN supply and current rate of demand we have about 40 years of oil left. Water will be the big issue in the future though. Califonia and Oregon border already is having big problems with water supply. California is pumping out of the ground under Oregon leaving Oregon farmers nothing to water the crops with.

It could well be that we will be having wars over water and oil... well we are now for oil... but...

Theres also a sculpture that was done recently,
and its made out of all the electronics one person
will throw away in their lifetime. Its about 50
feet tall, and ugly as sin.

I agree that we should do soemthing to help, the
littlest bit helps.

Yeah, we could help... look at how quickly we jusst toss out computer equipment...

Hi everyone
Please read State of Fear by Micheal Crighton. Not sure if I spelled that right. But global warming is a myth. The earth goes through cycles. Think about the fact that technology to track global temps was non-existant 100 years ago. Based on the datum that has been compiled to date the worlds temp has increased by less than 1 degree in the last 100 years.

Listen, I am unfamiliar with that book but, isn't Crichton the jacka$$ that wrote the super lame dinosaur books that became the insipid dinosaur films? We're not getting "science" from some cheap hack are we? I mean, I'd rather read a harlequin romance than that tripe.

There's no such thing as pollution either. Just relax and let the medication take effect.

I have read Michael Chrichton's State of Fear. He did a lot of research on global warming and was shocked at what he found. Why dont you read the book before you bad mouth it, you might learn something.
The sun is in a warm cycle with increased solar activity, that is one of the biggest reasons the Earth is warmer.
Hurricanes are talked about all the time since Katrina, but the 1940's was the most active time for hurricanes in recorded history.
We should be careful about how we treat our planet though. Hopefully people on both sides will be smart about the enviroment.
If you think you can or you can't your wright.

I think one of the problems with issues like this is we tend to confine our understanding to how it impacts us in our lifetime as if the planet is only 100 years old. We do know that the average temp has gone up 1 degree in the last 100 years. What we dont know is if it went down 2 degrees 200 years ago.
In the 40's & 70's the average temps were unseasonably low prompting Time ragizene to write about the coming ice age.
Also, the cynic in me realizes that scientists that say everything is normal & fine dont get funding.
Oh yeah and I'm still waiting for al whore to divest from occidental who is plowing down the amazon in search for oil. Oh and then there is his tennessee strip mines.
It's such a fine line between stupid, and clever.

I'm just glad we all didn't freeze to death in the ice age the scientists predicted in the 70s. Its amazing how fast the earth can go from freezing to death to heating to death.

Dontcha just love how Crichton is a hack but Gore is a scientist? "I read it on the algorenet so it must be true." I wonder if the environment is going to sue algore the same way his buddy Moore is getting sued for the 'truths' in his movie. LOL!

If we, the human population, are creating all these polutants that are causing global warming; why is the largest holes in the "Ozone Layer" over the Artic regions? Good lord. I don't think the polar bears, and penguins have SUV's..do they??
I long for a better world. One in which a chickens motives will not be questioned when mearly crossing the road.
