i have an issue with a xantech mraudio88. after installation (8 zones, with 4 of the zones splitted), only 6 zones responded. Also, i could not download my programme unto the base unit. I keep getting the message "unexpected error during download"
I shut down the controller. The unfortunate thing was that when i put the system back on, none of the keypad work. I checked the power supply, it was ok. The keypad only displays a number 2.25.
I dont know what this mean. I dont want to believe that the controller is spoilt because I can still use the controller to control the sources (through the virtual Keypad on my Laptop) connected to the controller. Can you please advise me on what to do.

I will appreciate your quick response to this mail because I have to deliver this unit as soon as possible.

Thanks.

define "splitted", multiple keypads on one zone?

This happens if you are using the most current version of software and the unit has old firmware. Upgrade the firmware to 1.41 and it should work.

If you are using more than one keypad on a zone with the address jumpers set incorrectly all the keypad will do is show the firmware version.

Thanks a lot Eriks,
I did as you advised and the unit is working fine now. I was able to download unto the MRCAUDIO88 and the keypads are also responding well.
I really appreciate your advice.
One more thing before I go,youasked about the keypad spliting i did. There are more then 8 zones in the house. But, because of the limitations we had, i had to limit the zones to 8. The house was already prewired. I used 4 zones splitters to join the remaining zones. Can this lead to problems in the future?.
I follwed all the instructions in the manual in setting the address jumpers.
Please advise me .

As long as the jumpers are set correctly, you shouldn't have a problem.

It sounds like the issues you were having were all related to firmware, which if you do a lot of Xantech you'll get in the habit of always upgrading firmware on all equipment before any programming/use. Xantech is kind of known for this.

Thanks again ErikS
I upgraded the firmware and the units and all the zones are all working fine now.
thanks alot.
I used to work with Systemline products, and with the systemline commander, you can split a zone and control each subzone independent of each other. I mean you can change source, increase/decrease volume and much miore.
But with zantech, what you do at a subzone is extended o the other subzone. for example, i have two keypads in one zone, each keypad controlling different subzone(pool deck and dinning room). If i select a source (e.g DVD) in one subzone(e.g Pool deck), the other subzone (dining room) automatically comes up and start playing DVD, even though you dont want DVD in that subzone.
is there any thing that can be done?
Thank you very much for all the advise you have advised me , ErikS.
I will be looking forward to your comment on this.
Bye.

Exactly what he said. Time to add another main unit and expand to 16.
