My parents have gone to Beef and Tortola for about 20+ years. We have close family friends there and their daughter lived with us when I was a kid while she went to school in the states. If you still need help with this, contact me and we can see what we can put together for you.

Any of you that have never been there, it's almost 3rd world country, with people still living in little shanties (spelling????), and stealing electricity from their neighbors. It's definitely not like being from the states! There has been a lot of development in the past 5-10 years, with the airport expansion and things, but it's still behind the times. It reminds me of the movie Beaches with Leonardo DeCaprio where people try to find secluded secret places. The tourists finally found Tortola and now it's becoming more tourist focused. :-(

I'm chartering a power yacht down there next winter, but I won't have enough money saved up to go down there before that. If you still need someone to ask around I would be willing. I might even be willing to stop by the house and work for a few days before the vacation starts if you pay airfare one-way.

The rest of you going there on vacation, let's keep it that way. The offer is greatly appreciated but I'm still holding out for someone relatively local that can better service the system over the long term.

It is really tempting to do it myself. The house is right out on the ocean. She sent pictures from the master suite and the only thing you can see for a full 180 degree arc is ocean.

ATOH - think about and see if you can come up with any ideas. I'm thinking there must be SOME local computer people capable of setting up a SONOS system. A competant electrician can hang speakers, usually. Sorry Larry.

There are some computer companies down there, and the people I know work at the "trust" banks so I'm sure they have to know who does the kind of work you're looking for. Just not sure if I'll be able to vouch for them. My dad goes down there quite often through the winter when he's not building houses. He may know, so I'll check with him and I'll call down there to see what I can come up with. You have your email in your profile? Ted, there are lots of Super 5 star resorts there (Peter Island is only a 20 minute boat ride from Tortola) that have television service and other CI type services on their premises. Obviously there are also lots of super duper high end vacation homes for us dirty 'murikuns. Might be worth a phone call to one of the super resorts to see who they use. I am good friends with the owners of Peter island and could shoot an email to them if you like? I'm sure there is some level of person down there that you could trust for the project.

I have also spent a lot of time in St. Thomas in a previous life and while the local habitation isn't any better than Tortola, again, there are lots of nice homes with CI systems installed. If you're project is in Tortola, you want to look a little closer to home than St. Thomas (IMO).
