Hi Guys,

Long time lurker, first time poster. I’ve been doing some research on multi-room systems for my new house and I stumbled across this new Delta system. I’m a bit confused though – it looks like it is made by Matrix Audio, but all of the online retailers’ sites say the manufacturer is Matix Audio; are they the same company? I thought Matrix products were not available online, but the Delta seems to be in a bunch of online stores, but not even listed on the Matrix website. Does anyone know anything about Matix Audio? Is it Matrix Audio? It looks like I can purchase the system online and then maybe just hire an installer.

I’m looking at getting this configuration:

For the 2 remaining zones I was thinking of the touch screens (I want displays in my living room and kitchen where it will be most used)

[Link: dsmiller.com]

Has anyone seen these in person? Do they look nicer than in the picture (looks a bit like an early palm pilot screen in the picture). If that’s the case, I might stick with regular keypads.

I’ve already searched the forum but can’t seem to find any info on this system, and not much info on Matrix Audio or Matix Audio. Do you have much experience with any of their stuff, good or bad?

the Matrix Audio and Nexus audio systems are designed to be installed on a speakerwire only system...meaning there is no KP wire in the location...Volume control wiring only and the KP takes the speaker wire in and out..runs audio and control on speaker wires

there is also Nuvo technologies if you have KP wire in the rooms

It could be a China knock off with a like name.
Re: The "Proton" and "Protron" situation.
I would contact Matrix directly.

If you go down about midway on the page you've linked to the item is listed as being MATRIX rather than MATIX.

Apparently the person who put this website up, has a spelling issue, as well as an ethics issue?

Ask yourself this:

Do I want to deal with a company that is selling the product illegally, and in so doing, buy a product that has NO warranty?

Shouldn't really be a difficult question to answer....

I understand that it is likely a spelling mistake, but I have found many online retailers carrying this Delta thing. They must be buying it from a distributor or something, because there are atleast 10 of them selling online. So if this really is a Matrix product are they going to sell through distribution now? If that's the case the warranty should be legit so I can buy it online...I guess I'll contact Matrix to see if these are authorized sellers.

My other question still stands though - has anyone seen or used the system? Does the touchpanel look nice, or look like it does in those pictures?

Thanks for the help!

Honestly, this is the only thing I noticed about your post. I can't speak for everyone, but I would never install something I've never heard of for someone who bought it "on the internet". If you are seriously considering hiring an installer, then you should consider asking that installer what they recommend to meet your needs. If you take time and talk to him/her about the system they are recommending, you will quickly become either comfortable or uncomfortable with their familiarity with their product offering, and be able to make an informed decision.

A good CI will be able to find something to meet your needs. Maybe even this thing, although I would be surprised.

Good luck,

Norm

Alright I'll bite. I have installed about 2 dozen of the "Series" line of Matrix Audio controllers. The "Delta" line is suppose to be a lower cost of the "Series". You only get two choices for the "Delta" - 4/6 and a 6/6 system. The NEW "Delta" and the NEW "Series" line can have any combination of LCD and Taxtile keypads. The system is designed to run on speaker wire, although any TWO wires will do the system. The old line WILL NOT do the LCD keypads. How this system is showing up on online sources is problem just like everything else - its not even available yet. Had lunch yesterday with the Regional Sales Manager and the Rep firm. You buy online - you suffer.

i dont install crap that people purchase elsewhere.

if you buy crap from web its your baby dont ask me to raise it....... or install it....

that being said there are a few exceptions......but i have not run across them yet.....so i dont know what they are yet.

i'm sure you will find an idiot to help you but you will get what you pay for and he will be out of business in a while and you will have zero warranty....then come crying back in here to ask for help.......wha, wha wha....
Ed will be known as the Tiger Woods of the integration business, followed closely with the renaming of his company to "Hotties A/V". The tag line will be "We like big racks and tight holes"...

Quite an assumption there. Internet sales of this product are strictly forbidden. Ergo, no warranty regardless of the product being in distribution.

Actually, the Nexus Audio Systems keypads work with either 16/4 or CAT 5 (2 wires) or CAT 5 (8 wires) depending on configuration.
1- 16/4 from controller to keypad and 16/4 from keypad to speakers.
2- CAT 5 (2 wire) from controller to keypad and 16/4 from controller to speakers.
3- CAT 5 (8 wire, 2 per terminal) from controller to keypad and 16/4 from keypad to speakers.

I did a Nexus system with a 1pr sheilded wiring configuration..we removed a Niles RVS-6 system and installed a Nexus..we did the install in a few hours, just used the 2 main conductors to the KP's

Client was so thrilled...now had multiroom and multi source in the house, before he would do his workouts before bed..so he wouldnt affect his wifes music time while in the kitchen cleaning up diner and while she did her sewing

Now they can do their own music when they want in their own areas
