The guy I work for is clueless but we're at the point of starting to make so money so I'm trying to do his job right so I can make that money. So here are the questions: 1) Can CPS keep a running inventory? 2) Can it send quotes via email? 3) how are you entering the info for one drop of say cat5 for a network outlet or data?

I know there will be more!

Thanks

Marc

I don't use CPS but if the ability to send quotes via E-mail is not built in, you could always print the quote to an Adobe Acrobat file and E-mail it that way. To do that you would need to purchase Adobe Acrobat Pro.

Or just get the FREE program called CutePDF. It allows you to print to a pdf file.

I don't use CPS either but I do use OpenOffice which can save to PDF. I use the PDF format (yuck) whenever someone insists on email.

The next version of MS Office will also save to pdf. I was not aware of CutePDF.

sms, personally I love pdf. It allows me to E-mail something in a universal format with the added benefit that it cannot be modified (assuming you don't want to send it in a modifiable format). Customer/architect etc. doesn't have AutoCAD, Visio, Excel etc.? No problem, just send it to them in a pdf file.

That's EXACTLY why I send in the PDF format. I'm not sure why I chose to throw in the 'yuck' in this forum but I do have my reservations about the PDF format. I guess my fingers got the best of me .

Office will still contain about 400,000 lines of code that will do nothing but bring an advanced user to a screeching halt, still save YOUR files in a proprietary format, and still cost between 330 and 500 US dollars retail.

Apologies in advance for the preach and yes, I know that the D-Tools folks out there are married to the MS products by association but there are other ways to conduct our business end of things without the cartopoly.

Did I just make up a word?

CPS is an SI business automation tool built on File maker Pro. Great system for estimating, work orders and basic CRM features specifically designed for our industry. They have a drawing tool but I have never used it myself. When I used CPS, the company I worked for did not have the drawing feature enabled. If you are using Excel, Word, QuickBooks or something like that mix then you would definitely benefit from a business automation tool like CPS.
There are others that are pretty good as well.
