Just to update this:
1. Use a Null Modem (Crossover) RS-232 Cable
2. Turn the TV Power on by pressing the Power Button on the TV
3. Issue the "Energy Star Off" command "RSPW0001"
4. You should now have full control of the TV.

I have a camera installed on the front door that is connected to one of the inputs. My tv switches to camera input whenever the doorbell button is pressed but now I want to switch it back to the previous input.
How do you read the current TV input?

nevermind.. I got it

I know this thread is very old, but does anyone have the latest firmware for the LC-46D92U? I've been pulling my hair out trying to get power on to work over RS-232 (via Crestron). I've done everything in this thread and have had no luck (including sending RSPW1 and it's varation ...which all return OK). After sending the power off command, the entire RS-232 I/F is disabled and doesn't respond to any further commands ("POWR? " or otherwise). I'm then forced to use IR to turn the system back on. I have version 1.11, but the Sharp tech support claims there has never been a firmware upgrade.

i can speak only for the Sharp Aquos LC320E (22 inch)
There's indeed no post with a good solution... and this is indeed sooo old... ;-)
So instead of wasting my time on forums etc, i just called up sharp and the very first person i spoke to was able to assist me, isn't that great? So here are the steps to make it working:
- turn of the tv
- hold the vol+ , vol- , input selection
- power on the tv while still holding the other buttons
- it will show you a log in password: 027
- now you should see a screen with many options, look for the "hotel..." and enable this. (i think i also enabled the one just above that with serial port... but perhaps not needed at all)
- power cycle the tv

You should now be able to power on the tv even when it's in sleep mode.

PS. in the Legrand concept store (tv's controlled by Vantage) we had also the bigger ones (27 inch) and they needed no change like the 22 inch ones...
So don't be angry if this method doesn't work for your type of tv, but you could give it a try huh?!
Good luck, Pascal

Yup, another case of firstdayitis.

pascati, welcome to the site, thanks for the information, and please join us in checking the date of the posts you respond to.

This one was last edited on August 6, 2010, which is pretty obvious from the edit date, as well as from the posting date. That's, eighteen months, during which, I guarantee you, he has not stood by waiting for an answer!

It's not that your information isn't helpful per se, but I doubt that he's even got the same TV any more!

Many many people post like this at the beginning, so it's no big deal, unless you do it a lot. Then we get irritated. I'm just sayin.'
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.
