... no discrete codes, except for HDMI, not even hitting the channel up key changes the input.

There aren't enough cuss words in the world to describe what was going through my head when doing a remote for one of those.

It's bad enough that they didn't include discrete codes for inputs- the f*%^#*g thing takes 6 seconds between input switches for it's re-tard system to catch up!

Samsuck is going backwards, not forwards. I'll never sell another Samsuck product.

You said it all man. Our shop has stopped selling shamsuck for about 4 months now, and we still have one DLP left on our floor that wont go away. Can anyone say mascot?

Yeah, I know. We have moved back to the sony LCD RPTV. I liked the Samsung DLP better, but without discretes, and no IR sensor on the front, why sell it. We just singed up for LG. I was talking to their rep and he said they have designed their entire line based on the custom install. All TV products for 2005 will have discrete IR codes, RS232, and rear IR ports. I have seen a couple of the TV's, but can't wait to get them in the shop.

Please say it isn't so...

I don't want to have to change lines again... better call up the head of sales and warn him.

What discrete codes are you having trouble finding? I have got most of them off this website in the files section.

Also, talk about an installer's nightmare, the Sony's have the speakers on the sides of an already wide screen making them too wide for many locations unless you want to sacrifice screen size.

But I have never had a discrete problem with a Sony product. What is your time worth to you. I still can't get the HDMI input to work on the last Samsung I did with a Pronto. I spent about an hour going through all the discretes in the files section and in the different forums.

Its just not worth supporting a product that I can't save the discretes from and load them up for each and every remote. It took five minutes for me set up the Sony I did yesterday and I am not even a huge Sony fan.

Happy customer and very reliable control.

That's HDMI for Samsung's DLP's

Cool, I'll try this next time I am at that project. Is this a new code, or something that is posted. I have seen and tried other HDMI codes, but with no luck.

Thanks,

OK speaking about Samsucks. I own a sat company and do (some) custom work. I have about 5 peices in my theatre arsenal, BUT the old eyes are going with the fingers. Only a 20 1/2' dump off a ladder 3 months ago. I have a Marantz RC5400. How much would somebody charged me to build the config file for me. That's all I need is to build the file after I figure what I want what to do where.
Thanks. I will look for re-posts in the am. I'm turning into a pumpkin here at 1:10am.

Mike? Have you talked to anyone at Samsung about the descrete problem. Perhaps they are available, you just have to ask for them......I hope. We just ordered 15 units!

Yeah I talked to the president of distribution. It is not up to him whether they have discretes or not. The DLP's still have discretes, but the IR receiver is inside. PITA if you are using a control system. I have found the discretes to be very goofy on occasion. Sometimes they work sometimes they don't. Even using the same codes with an MX700 remote. I checked the batteries, etc, still no luck. Their discretes have become very unstable. I have tried even the new codes for the 74 series, sometimes thye work and sometimes they don't (work about 90% of the time). After fighting through a couple of these we have decided to move back to the sony. Like i said earlier, we are also moving to LG for our entry level plasmas. Have you seen or played with any of them? Very easy to integrate and great control. We have also had a couple of the samsungs go down. One light engine repair and two premature lamp failure. Not that many failures, but when every sony GW we have in the field has never had a problem, you have to wonder.

Mike

PS. Did you get the fujitsu discretes?

I am done with Samsung. Only sold them when requested but now will refuse, and have a hell of an arsenal of info why. Product should improve performance during generations, not degrade.
Discrete power should be a must on any finite based light source (bulb), TV. It is one thing having to leave on a CRT monitor because TOAD power when selecting an audio only macro, but Samsung discretes infuriate me. I worked around the JVC Dila RPTV discrete power, pain in the ass but doable, Samsung just to sketchy.
I appreciate the confirmation from all here, notice not one post supports Samsung. They do not care, Walmart is their goal, not us.
