You need to enable the IR control in the Bose setup, though I'm not sure where. It's in there, somewhere.

The IR receiver option is in the menu. The IR receiver is located in the center of the small black strip on the very bottom front of the Lifestyle center and can not be seen with a flashlight. There is an emitter blaster located next to the receiver so it is helpful to turn this option off in the menu so it does not interfere with reception. I also find it extremely helpful to drink heavily during Bose installs and if you can get the customer drunk too...you can close them on the rest of the house.

There is a plug on the back of the Bose that connects it to your power source (preferably something very expensive made by Monster). If you pull that plug out of it's socket you will notice that noise most of us have noticed goes away.

I think this might be a more permanent solution to the remote control problem.

On a side note, if Bose put a good ear where the bad eye is maybe it would be inclined to unplug itself.

Hope this helps.

I cannot find the IR Option in the menu on the LS35

Could someone detail the sequence of the menu to reach this option?

thanks

Quatrix, it is under the "settings" menu. If you move your cursor over $ or 5 spots to the right you will see a shape that looks like a remote, under this icon is the remote features. select here and turn IR Recieve to ON.

I still contend that most Bose Lifestyle problems can be solved by unplugging them and setting a real Home theater receiver on top of them.

I would love to see how far some of us could throw one of these things at the installer olympics - probably have to be done in the parking lot. It would be even cooler if we had to use a bit of hand eye coordination by making a basket with it into a wood chipper. I mean, what else can it be good for it's too light as a boat anchor and too flashy for skeet.

sheesh, this is an old thread. Talk about beating a deaf horse.

Even if you get the LS to accept IR, no oem remote will have commands preset. The only bose they might have is for 3-2-1.

Edmund, I have all of the codes from room A to room P. I also have all 4 zone source codes for the older models. HTM has all of the IR codes for the main zones in thier database for the MX series.

RE the Bose, I like installing it, it is very easy and thoughtless to put in, and once its all hooked, you disconnect the power for ten minutes, and then plug it all back in, and boom, you have a system that will run for ever reliably. We never have service calls with Bose. Thier built-invisible stuff is pretty tight as well, thier in wall subs that only have a small port so no huge metal speaker grills required! I love it, but the sound is not the best yes, but for most peeps, it is great, and if you are all pie-eyed, then the stuff damn well rocks!

I didn't say anything about universal remotes, the OP wants his TV OEM remote to control the LS system,I very much doubt it will.
