Has anyone taken the HAA level 1 class and if so do you think it was worth the money? They are comming to Chicago in May and I am thinking of going but $950 is a lot of scratch for 2 days! Any info is appreciated.

what's HAA?
We can do it my way, or we can do it my way while I yell. The choice is yours.

If you have taken many acoustics classes in the past it will be somewhat of a repeat. But, the instructors are top notch and just being able to pick their brains and pick up a few pertinent tidbits made it worthwhile for me. I plan on taking the level II class later this year. My business partner took it and didn't have much acoustics knowledge before hand and he felt overwhelmed with information and had some things I had to go over with him after the class. YMMV.

Ahl, it is the Home Acoustics Alliance. Sond like something from Alias! Bob, thanks for the info and I look forward to hearing the review from OEX to get a different perspective.

I took this class about 1 and a half years ago. The info was great with alot of practical training for rooms you always run into. I had a substitute instructor that I did not like very much, but I hear the reglar instructor is great.

Be aware that Sencore will be there turning the screws heavily for you to purchace there gear.

All in all, I think it was worth it just for the knowledge and confidence it will give you.

I took the ISF class last year and Sencore was also their. They let us abuse their gear and NEVER ONCE attempted to hustle us for gear. They had a person there to answer any solicted questions but didn't offer ANY info without being asked first. They never addressed the class other than introduce himself the first day.

I did however buy Sencore gear. Its nice stuff even though its pricey. They take as much time as you need to learn how to use it. I even went to their facility in SD for a hands on training.

We all think our customers are wise for hiring us because we "Add value," We aren't the cheapest but we all claim to be great at what we do. Buying this type of gear from a comapny like Sencore is the same thing. You can buy cheaper but will you get the factory support and training that you need? I can tell you from my experiences with them, theyre a great company to deal with. Sorry for the infomercial.

I never felt "hustled" either. The gear is great and the company is too. I did however get on a call list and received calls every few weeks for MONTHS until I was ready to buy. I too bought the equipment and I really like it. I didn't appreciate the high pressure sales before and even now to buy more gear. That started at the training.

I had the same experience during and after training as well as after buying some equipment. I sort of put an end to the sales calls by doing a business case, over the phone, for not going for the latest and greatest VP400 upgrade. Interesting fact is that they never tried to come back with a better offer. There are some cheaper none Sencore alternatives to the latest VP400 upgrade program.
