When splitting component video for 4 HD sets all on the same signal. What would be an effective and lower cost solution that you may have used or know about?

This is coming out of a cable HD PVR cablebox, and is to feed a 50" plasma in the MBR, two 50" DLP's in the exercise room and sitting room respectively, and a 20" LCD in the M-Bath. Because of the X shape of this suite layout, all components are located in a central column. Thus all cables can maintain a 2 meter length.

Key Digital, Extron, Altinex, Kramer, etc make them.
The Key Digital model is pretty reasonably priced, especilly considering the high quality.

We've used the CE Labs AV400 unit several times with clean, transparent results. Reasonably priced too.

I think that the CE Labs unit is the best value for the money. I have used it several times with good results.

The Calrad has also been okay, although it is more expensive. The Calrad has extra features, such as composite video distribution in addition to component. I can't remember, but it might also include coaxial digital audio.

The Calrad sells for about $200.00, and the CE Labs sells for under $90.00. I got the CE Labs from Petra (www.petra.com) and the Calrad from Volutone (www.volutone.com).

Key Digital Systems makes a very high-quality product, but they charge a lot more for it. Extron is also good quality, but seems a little spoiled by commercial users willing to pay a high price for their stuff. Same problem with Kramer.

I just hooked up a similar system about a week ago. Everything worked fine, except one of his TVs was a 4:3 screen, while the others were 16:9. You couldn't optimize the settings for screen size or resolution for all TVs simultaneously. The client would have to change the settings each time he watched a different TV.

I think the Tool Box Component DA is just a little overpriced, although I can't speak for it's quality. Their prices seemed high on some things and very reasonable on others.

While on their website, I checked out the various other products that they sell and I liked the sound of their component video switchers. Has anyone ever used them? Do their remote controls have discreet input selection?

I do wish that they weren't green. The green may take away from the aesthetics of some intallations.

Never-the-less, I appreciate the source suggestion, AVX. Some of their products may fit the application best for certain installations.

Yeah,

I hate the green boxes.

They do have discrete inputs on the switchers. and almost all of their other equipment as well.
