I have been working on programming a Pronto TSU3000 for a customer and have been having problems with the discrete on/off codes for both their HL-P6163W DLP television and the SIR-TS360 HDTV sat receiver. These two products were purchased by them before contacting me concerning any work during their remodel so I do not have a choice concerning the equipment. I have tried the discrete codes listed on this website (from various lists and files including supposedly correct pcf and ccf files). I have searched through every IR command database I have been able to find including RTI's IR manager, Crestron IR lists, Premise IR database & the Aurora Multimedia WACI IR database. I know there is a link farther down that lists the discrete functions for the DSS receiver but how do I convert it from the hexadecimal format that it is in to the Pronto format? And how well do these work?

My problem with the TV is that I can ALWAYS get it to turn off but NOT always get it to turn on. I have tried:

1. All discrete coded seemingly available (as referenced above)

2. Learning the toggle on/off command from original remote to be used as the "ON" command. (still not sure if the Pronto was actually learning it or getting dirty code even after hiding in a dark room and covered up with my black winter coat).

3. Used an IR emitter coming out of a SpeakerCraft Smartpath IR system (tabletop receiver, amplified block, emitters) going to the IR receiver on the TV and completely covering the emitter and receiver eye to block any extraneous light sources

Anyone have any suggestions?

One more thing. I am assuming that the software version for the TV is T_ATLNUS_1033 . This was the last line of the service menu information.

Thanks in advance for any help with this. This website and these forums have been a great help for a LONG time! Finally came across a problem I can't get solved though.

I had similar issues with the 50" and 61" Samsung DLP's. I was useing a Sonance K2 to control the 50". Everything was fine, then all of the sudden the discrete inputs codes stopped working. So I tried the Pronto and still not working. After an hour of looking for codes and confirming the codes I had, I called Samsung tech. I got a senior tech who informed me that the TV's are "loseing their discrete codes" and that they are trying to find a solution. So I just used an av receiver to switch video and now the on\off discrete are hit and miss. Let me know if you find a solution. I would love to be done with this job.

Last time I installed a flasher on samsung I tought I placed the flasher in the lower left corner of the screen as the ir sensor is not in the usual place, unless I'm mistaken. I have been wrong.

With the samsungs I usually place an on button on the beginning of the TSu3000 therefore allowing on to be Samsung power off, delay then toggle power on then macro blah blah blah jump to source selection page that has an off button. This makes it simpler for home owner to get turned on in the first place. At the source page the customer has a choice of source or off and the macro goes faster due to not waiting to turn the tv on and off.

Downside!......--> when they switch to cd or tuner you could have the tv shut off but then it would be work to make sure it turned back on. Just leave the TV on if this is the case.

This is only a suggestion and has worked for me.

Good Luck

Have had issues with the DLPs and not coming on after a system off.

Decent solution... make sure that melody or waht ever is enabeled.

I have a page that asks if you want the TV On or Off. The On buttons commmans look like this.
Power(from the pronto data base)
Delay 0.3
D On
D On
D On

The Off Button is
D Off
D Off
D Off

Off is 100% no question.

For the On if the set is off it comes on. If it is on it flashes black for a second and plays the melody but end up in the on state. Works on HLPs.

There are discret On Offs for the Samsung box that are 100%
152 = on
153 = off

Good luck.

I typically set ap a Pronto for a customer with an "All On" and "All Off" button as part of the home page. This always works when I use products I sell to them (because I make sure discretes are available that work). How do I convert this:

"There are discret On Offs for the Samsung box that are 100%
152 = on
153 = off"

to Pronto format?

I will try the delay idea. I typically set the TV up to come "ON" last so that the sat receiver, dvd player, A/V receiver, etc are on first and supplying a video signal by the time the TV comes on. I reverse this order for a shut down. I have tried various delays from .1 to 1.5 and have tried moving the TV up and down in the order.

Thanks for all your ideas. Any other suggestions?

We do a lot of samsung tv's and the discrete on doesnt work. The crude method of getting around this discretely is to issue the discrete off 2-3 sec. delay then the toggle on/off. This will always work with out getting the customer confused with any other additional steps. The only thing I can tell that could be an issue is if the set is already on the quick off the on sequence could cause less bulb life. I have too many to count in the feild that have this sequence that have been working great for a long time.

Good luck

Follow this link...

Then once you have the CCF use codes 152 for "ON" on a Sat box and 153 For "Off" on Samsung sat boxes.

Springs,
That ccf is great. I don't know as much about IR as I should I guess. Been learning about it for years, just never got so involved in it. Are there any other ways I can use that ccf or only for Samsung boxes? Thanks again for the help.

Springs,
Thanks for all the help on this. Both the sat box codes and the discrete off/ on command worked great! I was at the customer's house for a couple hours and tried it numerous times throughout the day. I used the 454 codeset power on from ProntoEditNG. Thanks again!

Gald to hear it worked out. I forget who told me about that CCF but it made life a bit easier for dealing with those samsung DSS units... wellexcept for the fact that I could not get it to work 100% using RF. But thankfully DirecTV has changed to another box. Wich I have yet to get a IR conflict.

The big one on the samsung DSS is that the #4 button is the OFF command for a Harmon Receiver. That kind of sucked.

I find sweet talking the Sami is the only way to turn it on.

And has anyone else noticed that the discrete on works for about 5 minutes after the eset has been turned off, but not after that. I was almost under the impression that it was tied into the fan.
Gunga.....Gunga....GU-Lunga

And since Ernie won't keep count, I will. Hes up to 249, and counting.
