I am sorry for getting this whole thing going. I have a small point to make. This forum, IMHO, is about increasing public awareness and educating about audio and video. It's a cool place to hang out and offer help or be helped. This is a god thing. EVERYONE in here has learned a thing or 2 along the way. While I still think IP should have at least asked Dan for permission, his site, like this one has the same spirit of public awareness and a place to gather to share our combined wealth of info.

QQQ, I guess you could consider this a business. I would assume that Dan dam sure ain't getting rich off of this thing. He does it for the reasons mentioned above. This is also the same reason IP was started. I think we should all take a small step back and at professionally, if we can. It must be tough bring in Dan's position tring not to piss anyone off. He has been VERY leniant against people promoting their companies, seeking new hires, advertising for free stuff. Thats probably why he has been quiet here. I think he should offer a paid section to advertise, help wanteds, etc. My 2.
Diplomacy is the art of saying hire a pro without actually saying hire a pro

Point taken.

Do you think IP should pay Dan to post in a message that there is another FREE website that offers the professional safe haven on several differnt topics?

Anyways, maybe Dan is just too busy (as we all know how this goes) to respond. I added a nice big bold graphical link on our main page to "Remote Central" I hope the link gets used often.

Um Safe? How many times as IP been Hacked? Seemed like a fine site when I was there... But the Redundant "Gotta sign up again" thing really turned me off.... I actually emailed a pay stub when the site first started... hope that wasnt sitting in an inbox during one of the hacks.....

They hacks came thru me adding the BS mods to the site (like the chat room, and the old galleries.) they weren't secure and they aloud a hacker to change the code but not view information or configurations.

All data was safe, they just had the ability to change the HTML code.

Nothing is Hack Proof, but im trying to keep it as clean as possible.

In many cases, it's construed as collusion, which is illegal.

Julie: if it is collusion to discuss profit margins or salary in a public forum, how is discussing setting up a private forum to do it away from prying eyes any better? :-)

-------

I must agree with Q. It does not bother me if Brijaws or avdude start posts about IP. I know a lot of members here are also members there, and it is not my place to police this place for Daniel (I think he could say something if it bothers him). But oex did not deserve to get shot down for calling a spade a spade. This post was an ad and nothing else. If we decide to allow it because we like the people or the site advertised that is a different story, if Daniel minds or does not mind, that is also a different story.

---------
Brijaws:

Lighten up; this is the internet and all about FREE information

this coming from the guythat runs a site that asks for proof before registering :-)

If you really believe that then why don't you just post here the "secret" stuff you don't want others (potential customers) to read.

Your silly little whining about getting permission before I post a message is foolish.

I disagree, it is just being polite, it is Daniel's site and we are all guests.

Every time you talk about a product, you are advertising in one way or another. But I guess that’s different.

not really,
if you ask a question like "how do you get X to do Y" --- you do not
if you are talking about a problem " the X will not Y" --- you do not
if you are answering a question "I like X, it will fit your needs" --- you do not
if you come here and start a thread about something that you are involved in (like this thread)---- you do
...
