I am considering DISH as a content provider, so I have questions for the DISH people, but I would like to be armed with some facts before I contact DISH.

1. What is the difference between Hopper Duo and Gen 3?

2. Is the Gen 3 available if the household has just 1 TV?

3. Is YouTube and Prime Video available on Hopper Duo or Gen 3?

4. Can the DISH receivers still be controlled via IR?

Thanks in advance for the professional responses.

1) The DISH Hopper 3 costs $10 a month. But if you don't need its 500 hours of HD storage and 16 simultaneous recordings, you can get the Hopper Duo (125 hours, 2 recordings) for $5 a month.

2) Yes, you can have either for a single TV.

3) YouTube and Netflix are on Hopper 3, and I presume Prime as well. I personally don’t know about Hopper Duo, but I could assume so.

4) Hopper 3 is definitely able to be controlled by an IR. Same with its Joey’s if you get one.

If you decide to get a Joey, you can buy it and keep it. I high is what I have done. Mainly because there are times that I enable it and disable it. I’ve done it several times over the years, I never have to send it back. Nor do I have to wait for one to be shipped when I want to enable it. Just give them a call to flip the switch.
