Main box will not respond to IR, extra receivers do. Does anybody have experience with these? They come with the voice remotes, but using RTI to control.

Should respond out of the box. Never had an issue.

Just taking a wild stab at this, while not knowing the equipment: How do the extra receivers connect? Do they plug into a jack on the box? Might such a plug disconnect the IR sensor inside the box, like a headphone plug/jack turns off speakers?

This sounds unlikely, but maybe it might stimulate some thinking.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Are yo sure you're in the right spot for the IR emitter?

The reason I say that is I just went Back to comcast boxes due to everyone in my house pushing the cap, paying extra etc...along with YouTube TV going up again...

So, I put that same 4k box in my rack and pulled it nicely to the front. Fire it up, and the stock remote wouldn't work. I did some sort of pair/ unpair, still nothing. Turns out, until I paired the remote to the box for RF, the front lip of rack shelf was blocking the IR receiver!

Just a thought...

Don't follow you. It sounds like you're saying that pairing for RF somehow moved the cable box or the front lip of the rack shelf, unblocking the IR receiver.

What? It sounds like you're reading with a mirror.

I flipped it to IP for C4 anyhow.

??

He says
until I paired the remote to the box for RF, the front lip of rack shelf was blocking the IR receiver!

The story this tells is
It looked like
the front lip of the rack shelf was blocking the IR receiver, so the IR receiver didn't work
It looked that way because
when he then paired the remote to the box for RF
then the IR worked... so it seemed that the problem had been that the front lip of the rack shelf was blocking the IR receiver!

That's what I see there. No mirrors involved, either.

I posted about this new Comcast System last week. Now, I am trying to figure some things out about it.

The receivers go to sleep. They will only allow you to keep them awake 5 hours.
After they fall asleep, it is true hell to get them to come back on.
Anybody deal with this yet?

How about an alarm that sends an “Info” or “Exit” command every four hours or so?

That is what I am thinking, that after midnight, every two hours sending each box an exit command, until 5 am when they get up.

I did that one on a project and the TV's turned on in the middle of the night. Not sure why they did, cec and all other HDMI controls where off. If you send the Xfinity/menu command they will turn on.

Do you recall the TV model? A risky work around would be to follow the "Keep Awake" cable box command with a TV OFF command. Obviously, this is risky because someone might be using the TV at that time.

Unrelated, I had a system where the shut down commands had to be in a certain order. If I shut down the TV first, something in the CEC chain might turn it ON again. I wanted to shut the TV down first in order to suppress extraneous "No signal" messages and have the video shut down immediately after the button press. Ultimately, I sent TV OFF twice -- once at the beginning of the power down sequence and again as the final step. I had to keep CEC enabled between the YAMAHA receiver and SAMSUNG TV because of the HDMI ARC.

I have the CEC off on the cable box as well. Comcrap says to push the Xfinity button to wake it back up, but they do not.
