Hey all,
Just wondering if anyone has had any complaints about docking the mx3000. I have a customer who just spent 20k on a small theater with one of those p.o.s. touch screens. The problem is he cant seem to set the remote down in the cradle properly so it will charge. I personally dont like the remote. My sales man plans to just replace with an Intellicontrol. I have no problem with that, but there is motorola DVR. I don't know what anyone else has done, but it takes 4 master keys to control that cable box( I will send you the .IFD if you think you can make it easier). That can be confusing to a client. And that is not what the IC is supposed to be. Anyway your thought's are appreciated.

Just curious, what is the problem your having w/ the docking station. I'm sure you already know this but are you pressing the bottom of the remote down (should hear a click) once placed into the docking staion?

sounds like someone just needs to inform the client that the remote has to click into the charger before it will charge....FYI that "POS" you are replacing has won many awards this year for its advancements in home control, and is far better that what you will be replacing it with.

good luck

I'm going to have to agree with mr2channel on that.
I dislike touchscreens (although I do like programing them) but, the 3000 ROCKS!! (for a touch screen)

If the client can't figure out how to insert the remote into the charger, you're going to be getting a lot of phone calls with any type of "control" !!!

The intellicontrol is solid. Programmed properly you cannot confuse a client. It does need to be updated for todays equipment needs,DVR and Tivo for example are harder to use with it. My clients main problem with the 3000 is he thinks he is breaking it when he hears the click. I know the thing is neat and cool to look at. But i don't see what advancements you speak of. Its just another touchscreen with an IR router. Its not a smart remote like the Intellicontrol. It has no status capability.

I have has some trouble on a few MX3000's w/docking stations. I had to bend the contacts a little to get it to seat inot the docking station. FYI, the back goes in first, then push the front in until it clicks.

NO it cant. But that sounds really cool. It still does not change the fact that the 3000's docking station design sucks. And if my client had a mega changer I would suggest we stick with the POS MX 3000 and try that program. But he doesn't so to save the frustration of trying to tell a very rich man he is not doing something right a 3rd time, we are going to use something that works.

I have done quite a few of the Motorola DVRs(6208's) with intellicontrols and have never used more than one Master Key. Please send me the .ifd. I am curious to see how you are doing them.

I program a lot of mx3000s and the first thing I do when I'm done, before teaching the client anything is else, is show them how to put it into the docking station. Lay it in back to front and push it down until you hear it click.

It's not great but most people understand right away how to do it.

I think it's a little harsh to call it a POS because of user error.
i wanna go home now

You are right. I just have little tolerance for things that make my customers think we did them wrong .

And PHSJason.. I will send that file tommorow when i get to work. But Basically I create a Cable master key and then an A,B, and C master key using automation bypass. THe thing that becomes a problem is Page up and down. Before we started using the DVR I would put those buttons under FF and REW now I put them under chan up and down on the cable page. Then put chan up and down on the A,B,C pages.
