Voice Modems are NOT hard to come by or expensive anymore.

I've used lots of Netgear 500V's and 1150V's They connect right up with Comcast no problem and have been working great for over a year in several locations.

I wonder if you had IP conflicts that caused the issue. If the Arris and the airport are setup to route/DHCP/Nat on the same subnet you're going to have problems. I think the factory default subnet for the AP is 10.0.1.0/24 but it may have been changed.

Also if you are running wifi from two different hardware vendors you're bound to have handoff issues.

Actually, the issue I was having yesterday that prompted me to post. Was that I couldn’t see the gateway’s set up page when I was connected to IT’s WiFi. As well as it’s Ethernet ports.

Have Fing or AngryIPScanner? What address does it come back with?

Don’t waste money on Velop.

Ok, allow me to repost...

I’ve had the Airports for several years. They’ve worked flawlessly with my Zoom cable modem. Moved to this house 2 years ago. Installed them with a company provided DSL, I actually replaced the customer owned Netgear router. I left the company router alone. A year later she decides to “upgrade” the speed on the DSL. A whole 1.5MBps faster down and 0.5 up. At this point I had to put the Airport into bridge mode.

Now an other year has past and she moves to cable, 150MBps faster.

The cable company installed their gateway as it has telephone as well as MoCA for the TiVo system. (Still don’t know why they insist that, if y’all could educate me on that. At Comcast we just put a MoCA filter at the ground block.) They also disabled their WiFi, because of the Airports.

The Airport was already in bridge mode, so it was basically plug and play. A week past and internet kept dropping. All lights on their gateway, except for the WiFi, were solid and green, or blue, I forget which at the moment but were the connected color.

During this time, I could not load the set up page, 192.168.0.1 for this particular mode. When I could, I didn’t know the passcode. So after a few more days I decided to factory default and set it up. Still left it as they did, but now I know the passcode.

After an other few more days of issues I decided to put their gateway into bridge mode and my Airport back into DHCP mode. (Actually factory reset on it.)

After an other few more days... this weekend, is when I got fed up and posted my question. I just couldn’t get past the solid (ok)lights and the fact I couldn’t load the setup page (sometimes).

Right now it’s day 2 with the gateway broadcasting the WiFi and in DHCP mode as well. My Mac mini is sharing the WiFi to its Ethernet port so my Airport can broadcast, the same SSID as the gateway, to devices downstairs. So far so good, we’ll just see by the end of the week.

Fair enough. We’ve only worked with Atlantic Broadband a handful of times in MD and DE but provided customer owned modems. Same goes for Blue Ridge. Comcast on the other hand we have dealt with gateways that are painfully slow to load interfaces and very recently if xFi was used- we can’t even do anything at all (call to CXI). The issue your seeing is one of three things- the device doesn’t exist at the address you are entering (hence my scan idea), your browser cache isn’t happy, or it’s flat out busted.
