Hey Sonos,

Next time you release an update, especially one that is bad, can you make sure we aren't in the middle of a 1 X century pandemic with minimum tech support from your end and other services?

We've had 5 calls today and have seen firsthand where Sonos systems on automatic updates have stopped working, reassigned room names and other nonsense. We saw the first issue yesterday afternoon.

Tricky...
You need to be aware that nothing Sonos does is their fault.

But as least the lower margin and Sonos's stated aim of selling direct to people who buy their products from you, is made up for by the lower service costs and time involved.

Oh...
Wait.
Never mind.
This industry is not getting cheaper and cheaper, we're simply convincing ourselves that we have to push the cheapest option to customers.

The biggest positive of Sonos was always “you put it in, walk away, the client loves it, and it just works”. It has been trending out of that for a while now.

I think that was something CI's told themselves but was never quite true. We've been seeing these complain threads a very long time. I guess some never learn.

Any of my clients that insist on Sonos are well aware of the limitations and drawbacks. I cannot guarantee a consistent long term experience.

We stopped pushing Sonos a while back, and began providing it only to people who asked for it. Even then, we'll only offer the amp, port (not very common) and Sub.

More recently, we've discovered that the new Amp is really the best way to run external speakers for a TV, *apart* from the Sonos aspect of it. As in - we DON'T always sell it as a 'Sonos' amp.

IMO - there's really nothing better for a standalone stereo zone. It's pretty small, the ARC functionality works quite well and it allows you to sell other speaker solutions that can make a job much more profitable (not to mention presentable, from a design point of view). It has a sub out, in case you already have a sub, or you can use theirs (which is a pretty good unit, IMO).

The Sonos part of it is actually the worst part, so we'll sometimes call it a Room Amp or a TV Amp on a proposal. If they want music, it's easy to find with any modern TV.

I get so pissed every time I get an email from Sonos with their current client-poaching promo. So glad I went to MusicCast.

I've used them before, but that was a *long* time ago...I don't think that was the device I used, so it's nice to know it's out there. I don't think the unit I used had ARC; it wasn't really a thing at that time.

That link says that thing is unavailable. Is that piece still current? I'll have to look into that a little more.

Hmmmmmmm......I don’t know anything about bluesound, and am willing to learn why it would be a better sell than Sonos. But at first glance I see another company that sells directly to consumers (at least on their website)......and I’m guessing no better margins for dealers than what Sonos offers?

What do they have to offer a custom installer that is different from Sonos from a business standpoint?
