I have a customer with a Genie and 7 clients. She keeps forgetting to shut off rooms from the previous day and gets the Error Message "too many rooms in use".

Has anyone had any experience with the Genie2? I have read some horror stories from when it came out. I wasn't sure if it still was having issues or not. If anyone knows a better solution please let me know. I do have to double check the minis to see if there are in sleep mode which may help out regardless.

All she has to do for that old Genie system, is replace 3 of those crappy client boxes with H25 receivers. Problem solved.

Or replace the entire system, step up to the modern era and go with DISH!

Best thing she will ever do!

I thought the Genie2 was able to provide 7 simultaneous streams.

Sorry, I read that she had an "OLD" Genie system and you were looking to upgrade her to the new Genie 2, to solve the problem.
Not to quote Ernie, but this was one of those situations where providing more details and model numbers, would have helped.

You are correct, the HS17 (Genie 2) system with do 7 streams at once. So something is wrong in the system. My best guess without knowing ANY details about the system is, someone didn't upgrade the LNB (or switch system) to accommodate the amount of tuners needed. Hence not enough SWM channels for all the boxes.
Just my guess.

She does have the old system and he was asking about upgrading to the new system.

Thats what I got out of the question anyway....
