Hello. Im looking for any suggestion on a large outdoor wifi network. The installation is at a ski resort where running wires can be difficult and we may not have access to existing wifi system. They are installing a festival of lights display where lights throughout the village respond to music all day. The lights are driven by Rasberry Pi’s that can work on wifi. Distance between wifi access points might be up to 100ft. There are power outlets everywhere. Im thinking something similar to a residential mesh system but for larger distances, with access points that are waterproof and can withstand temperatures down to -30c (-22F). Anything from Ubiquiti..etc..??

Unifi will do what you want. I've only used the AC M APs for interior projects but the coverage has been solid

Still phone support that I know of for Ubiquiti. Does A##D actually have competent support for Ubiquiti?

I'm no Ubiquiti expert by any measure but I've used the Mesh stuff a few times and like it a lot. If they would at least offer paid phone support I wouldn't feel like I'm going to Vegas to roll the device when I use their gear.

I think ubiquiti has paid phone support available now. Its really not that hard to set up and work with though. Their online support and forums are very good.

the AC-Mesh units are exceptional and a great fir for y our application. we use them all the time and basic outdoor AP's as well.

Ruckus will definitely do what you want. They are great at outdoor WIFI. The T300/T610 will do great in this situation

Definitely ruckus.
When i was in Cancun the resort was using ruckus
Plus then it can support both the people and your application.
I’ve personally seen unifi crash and burn in multiple high traffic locations
Ymmv, but I’d be hesitant to deploy it.

I agree. I certainly wouldn’t want my name on this install if you went UniFi.

Ruckus all the way.

I was ready to do Unifi until some of you mentioned Ruckus. This may be harder as I don't know who the distributor is in Canada. Are they easier to deploy than Unifi?

Super easy to deploy but they are expensive compared to Unifi. I only use Ruckus.

We have installed a few Ubiquiti UAP-AC-M-PRO access points (never needed to Mesh them) so not sure how that portion works but I would also recommend if going this route getting the Cloud Key. This will make life much easier to configure all the devices to work together and allow for easier setup of SSID and passwords.

The biggest issue I have found is that the Ubiquiti APs don't like to have static IP addresses (not sure why, but could never get them working with a static), so using DHCP with the cloud key you don't have to try and find all the devices.
You can't fix stupid
