I need some small aperture speakers...Usually my go to are Triad and James, however I need to mount speakers in a 5.5" cavity (between Joists) so the usual will not work...

I see Origin and Klipsch have options that will work. Any other options? Ill be able to fit the subwoofer(s) in the floor pretty easily so I'm not worried about that.

If you guys have used the Origin or Klipsch how did they sound?

I have never been a Klipsch guy but the specs look to be a bit better then the Origin. I am well aware that these will sound nothing like the James/Triad true small aperture systems but it is what it is for this.

I don’t think he needs shallow. I think the problem is he needs narrow.

The Sonance piece reminds of subwoofers they made for mobile back in the 90’s. Definitive and Golden Ear also make some very small speakers.

I used the Klipsch as sides, rears, and height channels in a 7.1.2 system with Klipsch pro lcr inwalls up front and 2 triad bronze/6 in wall subs. It sounded great.

These definitely aren’t up to the standards that your used to or that others have recommended. However given the size they do sound half decent, I installed a pair above a bar and they were powered via zone 2 on a marantz NR series.

Measurements should work for you.

I've used the Sonance discrete opening units. They look nice, but you'll need the sub for sure. Also, they require the use of their reconstruction platforms for the finish to be right, and those aren't exactly cheap so you don't want to forget about them. You gotta stay on top of the finishing to make sure they look good.
