This forum is not for newbies. In fact, this entire website is not for newbies. However, if you wish to ask questions be prepared to have the following results.

1 - You WILL be insulted. There is no question about this. I have never seen so many petty small minded people lumped together in one place in my life.

2 - Your posts will be picked apart piece by excurciating piece and you will be informed immediately of any typos and opinions that do not coincide with the overall opinions of the forum collective.

3 - Your question will most likely not be answered. Although there are some people on this board that will try to help you, some are just interested in showing off. The inadequacy of your posting will be pointed out at once and then the 10-15 top dogs will start their own thread on how stupid you are.

4 - The agenda will be pushed forward. This is a forum by installers for installers. Certain agendas are promoted and while I can only draw my own conclusions, it seems evident that some manufacturers play ball with these installers and some do not. Just try to post a question about your new Bose speakers and these guys will trip over each other to tell you what an idiot you are and what crappy speakers Bose makes.

You have been warned.

Actually it says he's posted 27 times... maybe his first was treated poorly. Petty, small minded people??

Your comment about the forum being for installers by installers might actually be what even a petty small minded person thinks when reading the title "Custom Installers Lounge". I would take that to mean that this is where custom installers hang out to talk to each other. I've had the s--t bashed out of me before here and I didn't cry about it.

Perhaps Daniel can start what IP has tried and have an area where only verified pros can go. The other area could be one where pros are invited but only with constructive criticisms and real help... would that be OK with you?

Newbies have gotten a lot of constructive help here and they usually don't get bashed unless they make some amazingly moronic post (see Timshows). Bose is treated the way it is because it is an overmarketed CONSUMER product... not one supported by true custom installation professionals.

I would take this with a grain of salt... if you are a newbie here is my advice. Don't advertise that you want to hire a custom professional when you intend to DIY. Identify yourself as a DIYer and then ask a specific question... you are almost guaranteed not to get hammered and to get some valuable free advice from some people who are really qualified to give it to you... following this with a thanks will get you treated even nicer. Don't withhold your post based on the above advice.

We can do it my way, or we can do it my way while I yell. The choice is yours.

1 - You WILL be insulted. There is no question
about this. I have never seen so many petty small
minded people lumped together in one place in
my life.

Insults only fly after repeated stupidness or falsness. You must be refering to the fact that someone called you stupid for buying remote from an UNAUTHORIZED etailer to save $6. We, and I speak for EVERYONE, support the factory authorized channels for product. We don't support black/grey market product. SORRY FOR BEING PETTY!

2 - Your posts will be picked apart piece by excurciating
piece and you will be informed immediately of
any typos and opinions that do not coincide with
the overall opinions of the forum collective.

Not a single one of your posts was picked apart. You were, however corrected when you stated that your etailer was unauthorized. You are obviously hypersensitive. Thicken the skin alittle. This crowd can be tough. I've been on both sides of this too. Relax a little

3 - Your question will most likely not be answered.

Petantly false. We answer most questions several times in the same week. We do however get a little ticked at times when people refuse to search and do a little homework on their own.

Although there are some people on this board that
will try to help you, some are just interested
in showing off.

Rarely. There are some bright individuals on this forum. Many that I have great respect for. It's nice these folks share their knowledge with us all. We all benefit and its fun for most.

top dogs will start their own thread on how stupid
you are.

When? Never seen one. Back this claim up.

4 - The agenda will be pushed forward. This is
a forum by installers for installers.

This is the custom installers lounge. We do ofer help to all in here.

| your new Bose speakers and these guys will trip
over each other to tell you what an idiot you
are and what crappy speakers Bose makes.

The fact is this. Bose has done a great job of creating public awareness of good sound. We can offer better sound for the same money. Draw your own conclusions.
We are also tired of having Bose claim they own the word 'lifestyles'. If you were to read a little more you would realize that Bose is no supporter of the custom install crowd. In fact they are currently targeting CEDIA with their nonsense. It does make us pissed!

read the threads about Monster. Same crap.

Get off the ground, dry your tears and be a man. God, you sound pathetic.

CG,

In my estimation, you are either a really pissed off consumer with no anger management skills or an integrator that doesn't want the rest of us helping DIY'ers.

What I am certain of is that you are not welcome here.

You can a) help out, b) debate over legitimate issues or c) just plain STFU.

This forum is about teaching, sharing, encouraging and a whole lot of other POSITIVE aspects of life. Not slamming. Go find another audience to piss off. This one doesn't buy it.

Now if you'll excuse me, I need to get back to studying. A somewhat recent discussion on this list prompted me to edumacate myself on non-techie stuff and I have a test tomorrow.

That does not sound like a good way to start the new year, where is all the love.

Computerguy, chill out. This forum is great for anybody smart enough to ask a question with a little thought put into the question.

As a newbie, let me state the following:

The forum is titled appropriately. It for custom installers, and when I have asked the rare question here, it is AFTER i had exhausted ither means, and it is with the knowledge that although not "tresspassing", I was in an area that wasn't set up for me.

The answers I got were always helpful and polite

If you're not an installer, use the forum primarily as a reference site. THere is a vast amount of knowledge in the archives.

If it becomes a place for non-pros to ask questions, the pros will all leave, and we all lose a valuable reference site. The last thing I would want ot see happen is that it becomes a site ONLY for verified custom installers

To all those who have helped me in the past...Thanks

To be fair, it's not our fault that Bose makes crappy speakers. Don't shoot the messenger just because you don't like the message; blame the source: facts.

The general concensus around here, and indeed in most A/V forums, is that warning the uninitiated about the B.S. hype about "Bose sound" IS a positive aspect.

Just so you know, it's spelled excruciating, not excurciating.
