I try and steer clear of most of the fights in here, but this is just too much.

computerguy, you are an a$$ho|e of the highest order. If anyone in here gets to lay down rules, it's Daniel, and possibly the guys with 4-digit number of posts. Not some punk like you with 27.

Here's a clue: do a forum search. A new thread has NEVER been started on this site to attack someone. When an idiot like you comes along, they get flamed in their own thread.

We're all here because we LOVE home theatre and all the associated geekable fun stuff. NOT for petty carping and fighting. I have learned far more from this site than I will ever be able to contribute, but when I can help someone out with a post, I'm happy to. This is a good site with some good regulars and you are certainly the problem and not the solution.

You and CableBlisters are probably best friends. Go lick a buss bar somewhere and be the ground.

Guys,

I would be the first to jump in here normally...in fact, there is no doubt in my mind that this MAY be a sick, SICK joke by our favorite three lettered member, or it is TRULY misplaced dillusional anger by someone who, although he has NEVER posted in THIS forum, feels wronged by one of us. It is conceiveable also, that this is none other than NBDEER, NDBEER, TimShows, Wesley, or ILOVEBOSE! Let's just wait and see how many of the afforementioned actually repsond, and NO, I don't think TripleQ is actually responsible for this one!

I will admit that I am often quick on the trigger, but for some reason here, all I feel like saying is...

Take the high road...this one simply isn't worth it!

Uh, I think if everyone would go back and read all the replies in this thread, you might just realize that right or wrong you just proved the guys whole point.

Oh, and everyone knows that the only good thing about bose is the advertising. Don’t they make shock absorbers now? poke-jab-slap

I disagree. With the exception of the last sentence of my original post I refuted, sucessfully I might add, every point he made. There has yet to be a thread titled " Computer guy the stupid ignorant newbie". I am certain there will never be either.

No one attacked him personally yet. I read EVERY post he has had in this forum and was never "Attacked." or verbally chastized. I invite you all to read and see what he is crying about.

If we were all as sensitive as he, none of us would remain. I've taken some heat as has many others. I don't hear them wining.

As for the pointed out mispeelings, I cant fault a guy for that - look at all mine.

He was sort of called a "retard" on one post but he responded with something like "inbred beer soaked a----le".

The only other one I can see would be the remote but that was pretty tame... I've definitely taken worse.

Computer Guy... lighten up dude... you seem to know some things about stuff like i-pods, etc. I'm sure your input is valued here. If you get flamed rejoice in the relative anonimity that is here... sometimes its fun to flame back and the amazing thing is that after you've been here a while you'll find that someone who vehemently disagrees with you on one post may totally side with you on another.

I disagree (see we are not single minded).

What was his point? that we don't respond to serious questions for help? well this thread is definitely not one of them. And considering his post was flamebait (i.e. meant to PO people) most posts were not direct attacks. If people disagree with others ideas and posts (or even purchase decisions) what are they supposed to do, agree with it and say "YES that is right" just so that we don't hurt someones feelings?

It's true there are products like Monster and Bose that don't have big fans here, but is that a negative on the people here or the product and companies they are talking against. Yes someone could come with his fancy new Bose system and think he has something good because the adds say so, his friends say so and the magazines that have a big Bose add in them say so. Does that mean that we should be kneeling in front of him going "Ouuuu! you lucky guy you have bose, you should be our king"? no if you think something is a bad idea I think you have a duty to say it, that is why you go to places like this to learn stuff even if the truth is painful and you now know you could have got something better for cheaper.

Man, some people...

Just so all you pro's don't feel bad, I wanted to let you know I appreciate all the help you have given me throughout the past year. I have learned a ton from you all here (and occasionally get flamed, but that's fun too). So anyways happy new year to all, and here's to you guys teaching me more in 2005.

Thanks again,
Mark

Well, I HAVE BEEN ASSAULTED. And it made me weep. I had to turn away from my computer because I have found on other weepy occasions that the salt water is just not any good for the keyboard.

Okay, now let's get real: I actually found it hard to write while laughing. There was the series about my old IBM StinkPad (note the self-deprecating sarcasm) with only an 800x600 display...kept because it has both a series port and a USB port; there have been individual snipes at dumb or over-the-top stuff I have said; there has been polite ignoring of my misspelling a word while I myself went into excurciating detail about someone else's spelling! Actually, I am more likely to go into excoriating detail than excruciating detail.

I am an installer in the in Beverly Thrills area, and, as I once ACTUALLY said to Marlon Brando, who insisted on verbal sparring about trivia instead of just letting me install his A/V stuff: "Just remember: I am not laughing with you. I am laughing AT you."

Yes, we proved his point. So what? That point is a whiny observation by someone who, in his immense 27-post career, seems to have missed some of the good points of this site. Such as the blatant ad for low-priced DVDs, last week, posted in 12 different places, where I blasted the guy for blatant advertising and Daniel had removed them all before I could see anybody's further comments. Maybe that is because I called for people to send large emails to him...who knows....
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Would this be the proper thread to inquire about what a TOSlink does for me?

I thought a TOSlink cable allowed me to control any Toshiba with any other brand remote.
