Woohoo! So instead of having to troubleshoot one nagging room issue, the phone call comes through, “My whole system is dead and there are 50 people here!”

And you are on holiday with the family.

Sure, this is a risk, but if the modular supply for the router, or the control system fails, we’ll get the same call.

A central power supply offers the possibility of remote management. How many modular supplies will report their output voltage?

So the Move doesn't connect to the Sonosnet, instead it connects to the WiFi in the home. It will still integrate with other Sonos speakers, but it's certainly going to be router dependent like the rest of the multiroom competition.
This industry is not getting cheaper and cheaper, we're simply convincing ourselves that we have to push the cheapest option to customers.

There are plenty of reasons why EVERYONE is moving towards outboard power supplies. They manufacturer 1 product, then change the power supply depending on which part of the world it gets shipped to. It is easier to get licenseing with and outboard power supply. I have also heard that they can make them more efficient by making the outboard unit bigger. If it i was inside the and had to be crammed into whatever small box its going in, it would not be as efficient.

With how things are going, and how everyone is using outboard power supplies, this is a thing we have to deal with.

It doesn't have a network port??

Sonos at SnapAV come October.
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.
