Nobody, and I mean nobody, loves dogs more than I do. What they do to them at this "festival" is disgusting.

But for some perspective, please see:

How we treat ALL animals on this planet is gross and immoral. However, I am not a vegetarian so I can hardly take the moral high ground here. Hopefully we can all do what we can to make the animals in the food chain suffer the least amount during their lives and slaughter.

I wish I could give up eating meat altogether but I love a juicy fillet, BBQ chicken breast or a rack of lamb. Raising cattle is a huge contributor to climate change too.

Until my dinner consists of tofu and other fun stuff, I have to butt-out of any conversations telling other people what to eat or not to eat. This includes hunters, the horse-eating French, and unfortunately the Asian canine crew.

Now excuse me, I have to go pet my dog before I start crying.

For the most part, I agree with David. Except for the part about wishing I could be a vegetarian. Some cultures are disgusted at the idea of eating cows. So I won’t share my steak with them and I won’t tell others how they should eat.

I did once do a little research though and found this festival is actually a very small event in a rural area. Western media has falsely hyped it up as much bigger than it really is.

Humans eat meat. Meat eats meat. IMO its a natural part of life (and death) on planet earth.

What isn't natural is "factory farming". I wont go into the gory details because we all know what a gestation crate is and that "free range" just means they are jammed into a warehouse instead of cages.

I look forward to affordable "lab grown" meat. It should be safer to eat and help us curb our immoral behavior regarding animals that we eat.

If you don’t want factory farms, then we need to figure out how to get rid of about 4 billion people in the world.

That would certainly help. We may have a global outbreak of some unspeakable virus or bacteria headed our way which could cull a lot of the population. Because of the overuse of antibiotics (see Factory Farms) the bacteria outbreak would be uncontrollable.

Another problem is even if you wipe out so many people by these "natural" causes you still have the problem of too many babies being born (I'm talking to you Pope Frankie and all of the conservatives trying to shut Planned Parenthood down).

All of the humans on Earth can fit into Texas.  The world isn't over populated.  Over 50% of the earth is still covered in dense forest.

Sure, parts of the world are heavily populated, but others areas aren't.   If we all had as much space as the average Alaskan, we'd need over 100 Earths to fit everyone.

I don't think we have to worry about it. I'm guessing the earth will correct itself at some point.

Your numbers are off. "forest" covers about 30% of the land, not 50%. This is in a world where many of the 7 billion have an almost zero carbon footprint. As each nation ramps up industrialization so will the consumption of resources. Your second link goes into great detail about that. Another point made is the fact that the rich have to pay more than they do now if we expect to keep adding people to the population. We all know that wont happen.

Anyone with dogs fenced in a back yard knows that a given piece of land can only handle so much shit.

The human brain needs meat period. The way we raise our meat can and should be done much better.

I still don't get the morality issue with vegetarians and vegans. They call us murderers yet everything causes animals to die. If you own a phone, animals died, car, animals died, house, animals died, clothes, animals died etc etc etc.

In North America over 150 million foxes, rabbits, ground hogs, deer, birds, etc etc die in factory vegetable farming every year. Harvesters don't stop for animals, they just rip them to shreds.

Eating dogs is just wrong.

My ex is a doula and has helped women through labor and with breastfeeding.

She's had several vegetarian clients who were suffering with headaches, and lack of energy and general misery. She changed their lives by prescribing a good a steak. More than one said that they actually felt a difference in their body before they even finished the meal!

On a related topic, brains need fats to develop. At about a year of age, our first kid reached out and grabbed the stick of butter that was on the table and gobbled down about a quarter of it. We were of the school that believes that a child that young won't have developed cravings except for things they NEED. After he ate that amount, he stopped and never did it again. At that time we didn't have an especially low fat diet, but obviously he wasn't getting what he needed. And he's quite intelligent, thank you.

(Let me add here that when I say a steak, I mean a GOOD steak. When I was on chemo and had little energy, I went meat shopping one day and realized how many pieces of beef were actually tough, and had to be cut small and chewed and chewed. I decided if I was going to eat beef, I wasn't going to also fight it. I got a small amount of filet mignon. It was just the right thing.)

...and this still isn't a forum for this kind of subject.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

That's how I killed my neighbor's cat! Beat it to death with an old Western Electric dial phone.

Did you mean, "eating dogs without marinating them first is just wrong"?
